[ Updated ] Goth Annie NOT temporarily available until Feb 10th
Posted on
January 31, 2013
at 1:18 PM by Moobeat
UPDATE: Nevermind! In response to a TON of a negative feedback, Hippalus has went back on this decision.
Woah! Good news for those of you who have been eyeballin' the newly updated Goth Annie skin! After the visual update arrives in the next patch, you'll be able to purchase Goth Annie for 975 Riot Points until February 10th.
This skin is normally only available for those who purchase the Digital Collectors's Pack for 3900 Riot Points so be sure to snag her while she is cheap!
"Hey guys – clearly a lot of you were taken aback by this. The goal here was to help out players that didn't want to have to overpay for Goth Annie (because they already owned a lot of the champions in the pack), but based on the feedback here, we’re no longer planning to release Goth Annie into the store as a standalone skin with the upcoming patch."
"To celebrate Annie’s Visual Upgrade, we’re unleashing the Dark Child’s most door-slamming, parent-hating skin upon the store with the release of the upcoming patch. Goth Annie, previously only attainable as part of the League of Legends Digital Collector’s Pack, features unique spell effects, a particularly vicious and patchwork Tibbers, and more angst than your average high school drama club.
Once the patch goes live, Goth Annie will be scowling away in the in-game store until February 10, and can be picked up for 975 RP."

We're tightening up her run cycle now. We hear that it looks a little floaty, so we're trying to add a little more oomph into her step.
We're looking to readd snowflakes onto Frostfire Annie.
The sparks are back on Frankentibbers Tibbers! (this won't be in PBE just yet)
We've fixed most of her outstanding bugs, including the really old bug where Tibbers steals buffs from Annie if he kills them and the fire appearing under her feet when she autoattacks."

League of Legends on Mac – In PBE Testing Now!

Woah! Surprise good news for Mac Users! Turns out Riot has been working on a League of Legends client for Mac and is finally ready to pull the community in to test it out. By following this link, you can download the client and give 'er a whirl on the PBE ( not available for live just yet ).
Here is Udyr with the good news:
"Greetings Summoners,
I’m pleased to report that the long-awaited (fabled? mythical?) League of Legends Mac client is almost ready, and it’s heading into open beta soon™.
And by soon™, I mean that it’s available right now on the Public Beta Environment. Open beta, which will allow anyone to access the live servers on Macs, will follow after we’re confident in the results from the PBE test.
To make this happen, we’ve been hard at work: Riot engineers re-wrote a lot of the underlying game engine so that both PC and Mac platforms share the same code base and assets. This means Mac players will receive all future features, bug fixes, and new content at the same time as PC users.
While we aren't quite ready for a full open beta launch, we wanted to share the Mac client with PBE players to help us find bugs and give feedback.
Download the Mac PBE client here, patch up, and log in to help us make the Mac League of Legends experience as awesome as possible!
Thanks to the Mac community for your extraordinary patience – and a very special thanks to a particularly astounding group of folks who helped many of you play League via an unofficial client over the past months.
Best,Want to get even more excited? PBE signs ups are open again!

Extra bonus RP and Double IP for a limited time

at 4:54 PM by Moobeat
What a treat! In celebration of Season 3 starting up soon, Riot is offering us a double IP weekend and extra bonus RP!
Here is the full announcement from Hippalus:
"Season 3 is imminent and the competition is beginning to flex their muscles – are you ready to rise to the challenge and take on all comers? To help you get ready for Season 3 we’re offering two bonus promos – a double IP weekend and some extra bonus RP with each purchase:
- Your double IP weekend starts on January 26 and ends at 11:59 PM Pacific on January 27
- Get extra bonus RP when you purchase RP from now through January 31 at 11:59 PM Pacific
Here’s a breakdown of how much RP you’ll receive for purchases during the Prepare for Season 3 Bonus:
- $5.00 – 650 RP
- $10.00 – 1460 RP (1300 + 80 standard bonus RP + 80 extra bonus RP)
- $20.00 – 3000 RP (2600 + 200 standard bonus RP + 200 extra bonus RP)
- $35.00 – 5450 RP (4550 + 450 standard bonus RP + 450 extra bonus RP)
- $50.00 – 7900 RP (6500 + 700 standard bonus RP + 700 extra bonus RP)
- $100.00 – 17000 RP (13000 + 2000 standard bonus RP + 2000 extra bonus RP)
Unfortunately, because mobile payment methods don’t receive bonus RP, we won’t be able to apply the doubled bonus to these transactions.
These bonuses should help you stock up on some new gear in preparation for the next chapter in competitive League of Legends."Don't fret EU players, you get the sale too! Here is a link to the EUW and EUNE announcements.
Additionally, if you happened to buy RP recently, Hippalus suggests "If you bought RP in the last week or so, feel free to contact support to ask if the bonus can be applied retroactively."

Reintroducing The Great Atlas!

Ahem! It’s been almost 2 weeks since I, the illustrious Dr. Frank, first released the contents of my glorious Great Atlas. I must say, I can't be happier with the results, the feedback, the people I met along the way. It’s just priceless.
When I released the Atlas, it began as some sort of experiment. I used a layout I created very long time ago with Jax, and then made 4 more champions just to see what would happen. It had a horrendous amount of typos, grammatical mistakes and theorycrafting errors. But, in the end, we wanted to see how you guys would receive the idea.

We couldn't ask for more! The trial was a success and you guys involved yourselves in the process by giving us ideas and feedback - so much that made me think...

Matchmaking Changes in the 1/16 Patch

Earlier today, Lyte dropped off some news regarding a recent change to the matchmaking system. This change is a beta test and factors in the number of wins a player has when matching people up.
"In the latest game update, we rolled out a second beta test of a new matchmaking change that is live in all territories. This change will increase your average queue time by about 30 seconds, but we hope the benefits are worthwhile.Continue reading for a few additional red posts on the matter.
The matchmaker will now take into account the Number of Wins a player has in every matchmade queue (Normal SR, Normal TT, Ranked Solo/Duo, etc).
This means that for the first few minutes, the matchmaker will attempt to find teammates and opponents that have a relatively similar Number of Wins as you in addition to trying to find teammates and opponents that also have a similar skill rating. However, this does not mean it's impossible to get matched into a game with a large difference in Number of Wins--it's just more rare.
We need your help! Please give us feedback on the changes.
PS - RiotKiddington was the dev that did most of the work."
