  • The thoughtful Discountbot selects six skins that it thinks you’ll like and offers them at varying discounts
  • These discounts may include Legacy skins not currently available in the store
  • If you receive a skin discount on a champion you don’t own, the same discount will also be applied to the champ
  • Ultimate, Legendary, Limited, Loot-exclusive, and relatively new skins (released in the last 3 months) will not be featured in Your Shop
We’ve settled in to our exciting new location in the updated client and will be open for business from 5/18/17 at 12:00 PT until 6/6/17 at 23:59 PT."

Future plans for the client

Here's Cactopus is here giving us an expansive list of all the work in the pipeline for the newly rolled out League Client, including tons of features they want to concentrate and a few they plan to get to in the future:
"Hi beautiful people.
The client update beta is officially complete. The rollout went pretty smoothly, and we've seen no widespread technical problems after the launch. But we're not done making the client better.
Throughout both the alpha and beta for the client, we've been listening to player feedback. Today we'll walk you through our plans to address it. We've got a lot of new features, bugfixes, and UX upgrades in the works, and it's all in direct response to things players have been saying. If you don't see something on this list, that doesn't mean we don't care about it—these are just the changes which will be highest priority.
So, without further ado...
Things we’re working on RIGHT NOW.
This is stuff that's actively in progress or which we'll be doing on a continuous basis. These are the highest priority client changes.
DONE - Start new conversations and see your friends list in champion select. We recently added this functionality with patch 7.9.
DONE - Personalized store offers.
ONGOING - General client stability and bugs. We've gotten performance to a pretty good spot in recent months, but we think it's important to keep improving things and squashing bugs. This is work that will probably continue forever—like until Earth is destroyed by a meteor or the release of a new Yorick skin (whichever comes first).
ONGOING - Improving the time it takes to get to the end-of-game screen. Most of the problems players have with this are as a result of enabling the "close client during game" option in settings. We're working on some fixes to improve the transition time.
ONGOING - General champ select performance. Specifically, we want to improve the time it takes to get into champ select and eliminate any stuttering during the pick/ban phases. Work is being done on this now.
IN PROGRESS - The item set creator tool. All your old item sets should still be working, but we know it's a pain to not be able to edit them in the client. This feature is currently in PBE testing and should go live soon. We'll keep you updated as development continues.
IN PROGRESS - General chat window improvements. The chat team is focused on addressing complaints from players who are finding it difficult to tell who they're chatting with from the list of open chat tabs.
Things we’re planning to do.
Most of these things will be finished this year. Even if some take longer, we're committed to making these changes.

HIGH PRIORITY - Purchase skins in champ select. This is a feature that only worked in some queues in the legacy client. We'll make it so it works everywhere so we can always take your money.
HIGH PRIORITY - Make it so editing Masteries doesn't take up the whole champion select screen. This makes the ban and pick timers difficult to see while players edit their masteries, and it keeps them from seeing which champs are being selected. We'll address this.
HIGH PRIORITY - Let you choose a skin in champion select immediately after locking in.
HIGH PRIORITY - Improve client button responsiveness. Along with the general performance issues listed above, we think we can improve the "feel" of the client by reducing the time it takes for buttons to activate or show hovered text.
HIGH PRIORITY - Improving the implementation of the "recently played" list. You can still find this in the "add friend" menu (launched from the social panel) but it's not as accessible as it was in the legacy client. We'll implement the recently-played list in the lobby and as an "accordion" tab in the friends list. Also, we've already implemented the ability to block people from the recently played tab.
PRIORITIZED - Make switching between Runes/Masteries pages faster and cleaner. We're looking at a few different possible design changes here—nothing decided just yet. We'll address the problem where hovering Rune page menu items obscures on-screen information. This is work we also intend to address as part of broader upcoming changes to Runes and Masteries.
PRIORITIZED - Unlock skins from the champion detail page in the Collection. Currently the unlock button is greyed out and all sad looking. We'll make it into a happy button.
PRIORITIZED - The client takes too many clicks to get into game. We’re committing to reduce the time to get in game, both with changes brought by the 10-bans system and with little tweaks to the mode select screen.
PRIORITIZED - Make the champion detail page accessible from champ select. Currently it's only accessible in the Collection.
PRIORITIZED - A separate "skins tab" in the Collection. Players want a way to see all their skins in one place. We'll give you one.
PRIORITIZED - Queue information in champ select. The legacy client clearly showed the title of the queue in the top-left corner of champ select, but the new client doesn't yet.
PRIORITIZED - General improvements to the client's navigation bar to make it more visible. In particular, we feel that the Store and Loot buttons lack visual distinction and should feel more like buttons.
PRIORITIZED - The chat box "pop out" option should stick between play sessions. Currently it just reverts to its default state every time you log in.
PRIORITIZED - See summoner icon descriptions when you change them. So you can reminisce about the time you spent a week collecting a half-dozen extra dank Bilgewater icons.
PRIORITIZED - The "first win of the day" timer should show the countdown down to the minute or second. Currently it just shows hours, and this tilts some players super hard.
PRIORITIZED - Show players in non-Draft-mode games which side they'll be on during champ select. This is currently a problem in blind pick.
PRIORITIZED  - Further audio balance across client. This means more options and consistency around champ select pick/ban/timers.
Things we want to do but currently haven’t prioritized:
These are changes that make sense, but just aren't high-priority enough to take precedence over the changes listed above. We're open to making these changes eventually.
LOW PRIORITY - Preview chroma packs from the champion details page.
LOW PRIORITY - Edit in-game video settings from the client.
LOW PRIORITY - See information and videos for all champions including those with secondary abilities on the champion details page. There's actually a few things we can do to make champion detail pages more consistent, but it's work that may need to wait.
LOW PRIORITY - Spectate high-elo games. This was removed from the legacy client early in 2016—way before the client update beta—because of a security vulnerability involving the spectator service. This isn't something we think we can solve immediately, but we are considering tackling this in other ways (perhaps by offering downloadable replays of other players' games).
One thing we're still trying to figure out:
Hella stats.
WILL REASSESS IN A FEW MONTHS: Career stats on the Profile page. This includes the ranked stats which were available in the legacy client. We're waiting a bit to see whether upcoming work we have planned for the Profile page solves this work.
And one thing we don't plan to do:
Just one thing we're explicitly not prioritizing.
NOT PLANNED: Minimize the social panel. This is a design choice we made for the sake of supporting additional future functionality. Unlike in the old client, there's nothing hiding behind the social panel—every screen was designed to fit alongside it to leverage more information we plan to display. It already has the ability to hold additional info like your time in queue, game invites, and club information (whereas in the legacy client all of those things were relegated to individual little tabs and popups). So, later on, we'll likely use the space for other things as well so it feels more valuable to you.

Now that we've killed off the legacy client, we're finally able to focus our resources on all these goodies, so expect more work like it in the coming months. Also, in the next few patches, you'll notice us automatically removing legacy client files from your machine to free up space.
In the meantime, continue sending in your bug reports and feedback so we can keep making the client better. We'll hang out in the comments below to answer any questions you've got."

June sales schedule

We're past the middle of May and the new June sales schedule is now available! Take a look to see what skins will be in the upcoming normal weekly sales and an assortment of Early sales to expect near end of June.
"Check out all the champs and skins on sale this June! Like previous sales schedules, we’re not posting the exact dates for each champ and skin, but they’ll all be on sale sometime next month.
Just a heads up – since we’re publishing these in advance, we won’t offer partial refunds on champs and skins purchased before they go on sale."

Ask Riot: New Summoner Spells

It's Thursday, and that means it's time for a new Ask Riot! Today's article covers new summoner spells, the future of Black Market Brawlers, and more!
"Welcome to Ask Riot!
This week, it’s the future of Black Market Brawlers, new summoner spells, and stories behind items.
Oh, and for the one-year anniversary of Ask Riot, we’ll be posing your questions directly to Marc “Tryndamere” Merrill and Brandon “Ryze” Beck—the co-founders of Riot and co-creators of League. If you have questions, try to get ‘em in this week (and use their names so we can find your questions in the pile)!
Will there ever be new summoner spells?

It isn’t a goal to add new spells in the same way it is a goal to add new champions. We would rather have a smaller set of summoner spells that get a lot of play and have interesting and exciting uses than a huge stable of spells that isn’t that exciting. Spells like Flash and Teleport can be game changers. Things like Exhaust and Ignite are fairly interesting and do get used, but they aren’t the source of big plays like Flash and Teleport are. We’re okay with that space as long as they are relevant. Barrier and Clarity often do struggle to be relevant, but they can still be a good choice, in the right circumstances. And of course, we have pruned some spells over time that just weren’t that interesting (and didn’t feel like they had a lot of options to make more interesting).
So it’s possible someone will come up with a great idea for a new summoner spell, but it would have to be a really good one that could compete with the ones we have today.
Design Director, League of Legends
Do you have any current plans to bring back Black Market Brawlers? I loved it.

Probably not. Black Market Brawlers had some unique ideas in it but suffered from a split-identity crisis. Having both the minion customisation and the new items side by side was just too much going on inside a single mode. Lessons learned.
We would more likely choose one of those two systems to double down on if we wanted to resurrect a part of that mode. One of them might come back in some other form, but it’s unlikely to be in the specific incarnation that was Black Market Brawlers.

As I observed, Riot hasn’t focused on explaining the background of items. The only item we know is relevant to lore is the Blade of the Ruined King. Will you explore more stories of items?

Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: We’re looking into exactly how to deliver lore for the items (it’d be a bad idea to put the lore into the game itself, because when your four friends are in a teamfight and you have to buy an AP pen item, the last thing you need is to see some writer’s bullshit musings on the Blessed Isles cluttering up your screen), but it’s something we definitely intend to tackle soon.

Have a question? Head over to Ask Riot and sign into your League account. Check out the Pro Tips, then ask away.
We promise to read every question, but we can’t guarantee they’ll all get answers. Some questions may already be answered elsewhere, and some won’t be right for Ask Riot. This isn’t the best place to announce new features, for example, and we might skip conversations on issues we’ve talked about in depth before (though we can clarify individual points).
We are listening, though, so keep asking. We’ll make sure your questions are heard by the Rioters working on the stuff you’re curious about."

Zyra PBE Changes Context

When asked for context on the Zyra changes on the 7.11 PBE, 20thCenturyFaux explained:
"Happy to give context. Our goal here is to improve the early level laning experience against Zyra without harming her experience or changing her play later in the game. It's easy to have the changes sunset as Zyra gains levels, the challenge is making 1 hit plants work for Zyra in lane from levels 1 to 5.
The main controls on Zyra's plants are fun, power, and frustration -- getting a good exchange rate. If we can make plants less frustrating for the enemy, we can get more power and fun. The same HP that lets plants survive at all lategame makes fighting them in lane crazy. Fixing this bit of derp buys us a fair bit.
So what do we buy? Plant damage! Plants are core to Zyra's identity and we've just made them cheaper. We spend that power back into the plant system, giving Zyra a bigger garden and so conditionally more damage-- about 50% more plants overall in lane. The linked article is missing that bit of the changes -- Garden of Thorns is much more likely to spawn two seeds at once when Zyra is low level.
For Zyra, it's functionally equivalent to making the plants squisher and more dangerous. For enemies, it lets them play too -- the plant damage starts higher and it's more often smart to fight them some. Balance wise, our intent is to keep her at current power levels, so further changes are likely to be along those lines."
20thCenturyFaux continued:
"In no particular order:
The R plant Health bonus applies to all plants once R is learned.
Q mana cost is something we've got our eye on, that's decently likely to change. You're right that the pressure to reduce duration in lane is gone, only restricting factor left would be lategame zoning with Rylais and Liandry. Could see this being a good place to buff solo lane Zyra since plant duration in lane would mainly benefit minion control.
Higher plant damage comes from there being more when they spawn. Typically this is most impactful when spawning several plants at once. W seeds are placed at times where the opponent is under the highest pressure, and so least able to attack, making Health less important for them.
Unless she's laning against the damage aura that won't change at all. Laning against it, aoe periodic does partial damage to plants so it'd depend on how quickly it ticks."
When asked about scaling on her Passive, 20thCenturyFaux commented:
"Quote:
Do you have any value scale for the passive's change ?
From levels 1-5, the passive will spawn two seeds (very) roughly about 1.5x as often.
From levels 6-10, around half that. It varies a ton circumstantially, that's for the overall output."

Gentleman Gnar Figure Now Available

new Gentleman Gnar figure is now available in the Riot Games Merch store along with a cute video celebrating the release:

"When we set out to create this Special Edition figure, it was a mission of delicate balance - finding the middle ground between the mischievous yordle's personality and the distinct air of a well-mannered gentleman.

Perched with grace in his overstuffed red chair, Gentleman Gnar is ever the charming young Yordle. With his groomed fur, freshly starched shirt and immaculate bow tie, it's tough to imagine him exploding into a rage-fueled behemoth and throwing part of a clocktower across the street. We gave a nod to his alter self with ragged claw marks in the back of the chair, likely occuring the last time his tea was sent up without sugar."
Here are a couple images from it's design and creation from the store page:

Patch Chat with the Playtest Team - Patch 7.10

With patch 7.10 now available on live, the newest edition of Patch Chat is here:
"Header by inkiness
Hey, everyone! I'm Riot King Cobra and it's time for another round of Patch Chat! These threads serve as opportunity for us to talk about the patches that come out every two weeks. You can find the most recent patch by following this link: Patch 7.10 Notes
I'm on Riot's Playtest Team, a group of high elo players who play with the new champions, reworks, balance tweaks, items, and map updates before they are released. It's our job to the test the changes that our designers come up with and ensure that we're introducing positive changes to League in terms of both balance and fun. Ask us questions - we'll try to answer as many as we can!
In Patch 7.10 we've introduced some changes to Heimerdinger and Rammus. Additionally, we've pulled back some power from a few champions that have been appearing quite a bit on the Rift including Fizz, Graves, Ivern, and Lee Sin. We also went back and further tuned our updated tanks - Sejuani, Maokai, and Zac all have some numbers changes to bring them to more appropriate power levels.
All of us on the Playtest Team are avid gamers so feel free to talk to us as fellow LoL players!

Quick Hits: MSI Capsules, Merch Update, & more!

[Quick Hits is our own collection within a red post collection, often including easy to digest stories, specialized information, and/or repeat info you may have missed in other posts!]

1) May 18th - May 21st will be your final chance to purchase the 600 RP MSI Capsules! These have only been available on broadcast days and include 3 items - two skins shards and a esports skin shard.

2) The Riot Games Merch facebook released this statement about changes they would be making to make the site easier to navigate and find the information about releases much easier:
"We have received a lot of questions from players regarding our products: which ones are being restocked? which were limited edition? when is something is low in stock, etc. We know we could do a MUCH better job in communicating to you with this type of information so wee worked to answer these questions by:
- Making a pass on the website and clearly labeling every product with visual labels.
- Developing this guide to Collectibility to create clearer framework for numbered/series products: https://na.merch.riotgames.com/…/cust…/collectibility-guide/

- Creating this stock indicator quide to define what all the labels mean: https://na.merch.riotgames.com/…/custom…/indicator-glossary/
We hope this helps as a start - but we will keep working hard to produce great products and supporting special moments while doing a better job in these communications."

3) When asked about item sets and when they might release to live, Cactopus responded:
"Quote:
Where are the item sets?
Prolly hitting live 7.12"

4) In response to a thread on Reddit asking about a bug with Xayah's Q sound, Riot_Rabid_Llama explained a bug and the reasons it happened, as well as confirming he had put in a fix for it:
"I knew exactly what would cause this, so I fixed it real quick (for 7.11). You did it, Reddit.
By the way, what causes this tends to be a combination of copy-pasta and an actual smart thing our game does around assets. In this case, the Xayah Q hit visual effect was originally a copy of Kalista's E hit VFX during early development, complete with the Kalista sound call that it makes - this is totally normal, because for an early version of the kit, you want to steal borrow finished, impactful particles so that your spell feels good. However, Kalista's sound bank isn't loaded unless she's in the game, to improve loading and run-time performance, so that sound call generally didn't play.
The VFX artist edited the particle file in-place to give it all-new art (since, hey, it's already hooked up!), but nobody ever removed the Kalista sound, since it was hard to notice due to needing a specific situation to even happen. Loading up Xayah and testing her by herself, you'd never know there was an issue.
To QA's credit, they totally found this bug, it just wasn't fixed til now"
5) RiotScruffy commented on a Renekton  bug and timing changes are investigating it.
"We're investigating both these bugs and timing changes. The end goal here is that we want to have some additional QoL features like spell queueing while maintaining all of the old timings (except for Q+auto at the same time).
Expect things to get fixed, and it helps us a lot when you all point out inconsistencies and bugs like this thread. Also, we're sorry for the clunkyness in the meantime."

6) Asyrite noted Malzahar changes should hit the PBE soon - estimated for 5/19 unless issues.
