[ Update: Added in a small note about Heimerdinger's hastened run now being exclusive to Homeguard ]

The PBE has been updated! In addition to another iteration of Kassadin's VFX hitting the PBE, today's update features Kassadin being re-enabled for testing after his rework in the 3/1 PBE update and tentative balance changes for Annie & Maokai.

[Update] Heimerdinger's Homeguard Movement Animation

Over on reddit, Ququroon has confirmed that Heimerdinger's hastened run effect ( normally available over a certain movement speed threshold ) is now exclusively tied to having the Homeguard enchantment on his boots.
"It's just Homeguard. We've manually set a few runs to only work during Homeguard because it 'locks' you out of attack animations."
If you missed it in our initial coverage, Heimer's homeguard movement animation is him blasting around on a rocket.

Kassadin VFX Updates are back

While we've seen them rotate on and off the PBE in previous patches, Kassadin's updated visual effects are now back on the PBE and include an new particle for his Q's shield effect ( see balance changes below for more info )

[ Note: Some of these are pain to get a good shot of! Watch the video! ]

Null Sphere ( Q )

Nether Blade ( W )
Force Pulse ( E )
Riftwalk ( R )

Balance Changes

* Remember *: The PBE is a testing grounds for new, tentative, and sometimes radical changes. The changes you see below may be lacking context or other accompanying changes that didn't make it in - don't freak out! These are not official notes.

[ Reminder: Annie has had several tweaks to her base damage and AP ratios in previous PBE patches ]
  • Base attack range lowered to 575 from 625
  • Disintegrate ( Q ) now lists ". Mana cost and half the cooldown are refunded if Disintegrate kills the target."

[ Context : Kassadin originally received the following changes in the  3/1 update but was disabled and I could not check all of his ratios, including the new mana scaling ratios on his Q shield, W passive damage, and R damage.
For the sake of clarity, here is a repost of the complete changes to his kit, including the differences vs live values]

  • Void Stone ( Passive )
  • No longer transforms magic damage into bonus attack speed
  • Now allows Kassadin to Ignore Unit Collision
"Kassadin takes 15% reduced magic damage and ignores unit collision."
  •  Null Sphere
  • Base damage lowered to 80/105/130/155/180 ( +.5 AP ) from  80/110/140/170/200 ( +.7 AP )
  • No longer silences target for 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2 sec, although can still interrupt channels. Instead of silence, now grants a magic damage absorbing shield for 2 seconds.
70/75/80/85/90 Mana
9/9/9/9/9 sec Cooldown

"Kassadin fires an orb of void energy at a target enemy, dealing 80/105/130/155/180 ( .5 AP ) magic damage and interrupting channels.

The excess energy forms around himself, granting a shield that absorbs 40/70/100/130/160 ( + 2/3/4/5/6% of total mana ) magic damage for 2/2/2/2/2 seconds."
  • Nether Blade ( W )
[ Heavily reworked ]
  •  Passive: No longer restores mana on hit. This has been moved to the active and replaced with bonus magic damage on hit.
  • Active: No longer adds extra magic damage per attack for a short duration. Instead, it now gives significant bonus damage to the next attack and restores 10% of missing mana - tripled against champions
  • Cooldown lowered to 7/6/5/4/3 from 12 at all ranks.
No Cost
7/6/5/4/3 sec Cooldown

"Passive: Kassadin's basic attacks draw energy from the void, dealing 20/20/20/20/20 ( 1/1.25/1.5/1.75/2% of total mana) bonus magic damage.

Active: Kassadin charges his Nether Blade, causing his next basic attack to deal 40/70/100/130/160 ( .5 AP ) bonus magic damage and restore 10/10/10/10/10% of his missing Mana. Mana restore triples against champions"

  • Force Pulse ( E )
  • Damage lowered to 80/105/130/155/180 (+.5 AP ) from 80/120/160/200/240 (+.7 AP)
80/80/80/80/80 Mana
6/6/6/6/6 sec Cooldown

"Kassadin draws energy from spells cast in his vicinity, gaining a charge whenever a spell is cast near him.

Upon reaching 6 charges, Kassadin can use Force Pulse to deal 80/105/130/155/180 (+ .5 AP ) magic damage and slow enemies by 30/35/40/45/50% for 3 seconds in a cone in front of him."

  • Riftwalk ( R )
  • Damage changed to 80/120/160 (+2/4/6% total mana ) from 80/100/120 ( +80% AP )
  • No longer increases in damage after multiple jumps.
  • Cooldown lowered to 7/5/3 from 7/6/5
100/100/100 Mana
7/5/3 sec Cooldown

"Kassadin teleports to a nearby location dealing 80/120/160 ( 2/4/6% of total mana ) magic damage to surrounding enemy units

R Mana cost now shows up on the ability bar.

  • Vengeful Maelstrom ( R ) base mana cost lowered to 75 from 80
