Teamfight Tactics Mobile Update

Here's an update on TFT mobile from the dev team - "We’re starting closed beta testing in a few countries today and are aiming to launch in March!"
"Teamfight Tactics is coming for your phones in March, but for a few of you, it's actually coming a bit sooner.
Over the next few weeks we'll be testing the mobile version as a closed beta in a handful of countries around the world. If you see a friend, family member, or dog playing TFT on their phones, do not be alarmed: They're probably in one of the test countries. The beta will expand a little bit over the coming weeks. However, as we mentioned at the start of the year, we're still aiming to get the first big group of folks mobile access for the first time in March. The details on that launch will come later.
As a reminder, if you're on Android you can still pre-register in the Google Play Store. If you'll play on Apple you can sign up for updates here
Our Approach
In most countries, Teamfight Tactics will be a cross-platform game with shared inventories, progression, and rank. This means it’s important to us that TFT looks and feels like the same game on PC and mobile. While the play experience may vary slightly, we believe no one should be disadvantaged from their choice of platform.
Playing TFT should feel intuitive and familiar when switching between mobile and PC. It’s all about when and where you want to play!
What Are Some of the Differences Between TFT Mobile and PC?
The out-of-game experience
When we set out to bring TFT to mobile, we immediately realized that the existing out-of-game experience for League is not mobile-friendly. So, we decided to make a new one that would be tailored to TFT and your mobile devices. The new experience is all about one thing: getting you into the game.
As part of this streamlined approach, the TFT mobile client initially supports social (lobbies, friends, and invites) as well as the ranked system and the progression pass. We will be adding more functionality steadily over time.
The overall visual style
We shifted the visual style in a few areas to make things clearer and easier to use. We're trying to be as true to the PC experience as possible while doubling down on the things TFT does really well, like creating a brighter and more approachable aesthetic.
In-game items and Champion Shop
In order to make items more "finger-friendly," TFT mobile has a dedicated items inventory panel. From there, you'll be able to drag to preview, equip, and combine items the same way you do on PC!
The in-game Champion Shop can’t remain open all the time without compromising the battlefield, so instead, the shop is opened and closed with a button. The shop automatically opens at the beginning of every round, appearing near the top of the screen so that you can still position your champions while buying and selling. In addition, the stage tracker only shows the time left in the current phase while the Store is open to make sure you have a complete view of your battlefield.
Expressing yourself
In-game chat would need to occupy a large section of a phone screen, especially when the keyboard is open. We felt it was more important to prioritize gameplay parity, so in-game chat on mobile is not supported at this time.
But what about spamming your favorite emotes or screaming with Silverwing over and over and over again? Never fear, you'll be able to dance, taunt, emote and otherwise express yourself through a dedicated Little Legend emote menu that has been newly redesigned for touchscreens. (Pings and emotes remain unchanged on PC.)
What’s Not Changing?
Pretty much everything else. The gameplay, game systems, balance updates, new sets, ranked—all the things you've come to love about Teamfight Tactics are remaining the same. It's really important to us that your experience remains true, no matter where you play.
That's It
We're excited to get Teamfight Tactics into all of your literal hands, and we'll be back later with more of the specifics. For now, and assuming all this testing goes smoothly, expect the full launch in March.
A Few Specifics
Will I be able to buy stuff?
  • While we will not initially be launching with a store in the client, one of our top priorities is making it so that you can engage with all the content TFT has to offer. The store will follow in an update after the launch.
Will my inventory of Little Legends cross over?
  • We built TFT Mobile with existing players in mind. In most regions, if you log in using the same account as on PC, all of your Little Legends, Arena Skins, and other content will carry over. Similarly, anything you earn on TFT Mobile will show up if you choose to play on PC.
  • This will not include China or Southeast Asia. For more information about how TFT will be coming to phones in South East Asia go here.
What kinds of phones can I play on?
  • We're aiming to bring TFT to as many devices as possible. This might vary region to region, but typically you'll find that iPhones 6S or later are supported on the Apple side, while Android fans can expect phones running OS5+ and 2GB of RAM and above to work well. While we tried super duper hard to make Razrs and Sidekicks function, it was just a nonstarter.
Can I play on Tablet?
  • Not at launch, but Soon™. We want the tablet experience to be awesome, but it needs some more time in the oven if we want it to have that great Riot taste."

"Your semi-weekly dose of server problem-os, NA League news, and other!
2020 has started! We’ve got LCS about to start, LoR is soon to enter open beta, Sett is punching an awful lot of things, and everyone loves giant Mechs.
Follow-Ups:
  • Mac voice still not working properly Bug grouped with other Mac bugs. More .plist fun (No progress since last check).
Ongoing
  • Server Transfers Disabled Transfers are disabled until the next platform downtime (likely 10.3), in order to install additional logging and diagnostic tools to improve transfers in the long run.
Server Stuff:
  • Gifting center shows empty buttons instead of friend names(1/24, ~7 hours) Player reports reach the NOC that there are blank buttons in the gifting center, where friend names should be. NOC is able to reproduce the issue, and gifting is disabled while engineering teams fix the problem. A hotfix rolls out and gifting is enabled again on all Riot regions.
  • Riot Status translations not present for champion disables(1/25, ~50minutes) NOC notices that the ticker updates do not contain all required translations needed for a variety of languages. The missing languages are added into the standard responses needed for most problems by the localization team.
  • Sign on problems prevent login(1/27, ~32 minutes) Automated alerting notifies the NOC that sign in problems reach problematic levels. Investigation starts with a triage team, and engineers begin to dig into sign ons. Before much headway could be made, sign ons recover on their own. No discernable root cause is found.
  • Page bug cause champ select failures(1/28, ~402 minutes) NOC is notified that there’s a bug with one stat hook into champion select. Investigation shows that the bug also causes champion select to fail, preventing players from playing. The stat hookup is disabled until the back code can be fixed. The code is fixed several hours later, and the stat hookup is re-enabled.
  • Issues with stats page during champ select(1/29, ~36 hours) The NOC is again notified that there’s a new bug with stats during champ select. In response, stats are disabled for champ select again until a code fix can solve the problem. The problem is solved with a back-end code update the following day.
  • Change to backend session cause players to disconnect(1/31, ~10 minutes) NOC is notified by automated alerting that CCU (concurrent users) is dipping at alarming rates. NOC pages associated teams, but before teams can start to triage possible issues, CCU starts to recover. Post-problem investigation points to a backend change that caused a brief spike in disconnects.
Game Stuff:
  • Potential Sylas bug results in Sylas being disabled in ranked(1/25, ~2 days) NOC is notified of a Sylas bug. Repro efforts are able to remake it, and the call is made to disable Sylas in ranked games on all shards. Messaging is posted, and teams work to create a hotfix to fix Sylas. Several days later, a micropatch rolls out, fixing the bug with Sylas, and he is reenabled in Ranked in order to steal many many many many many more spells.
  • Jhin able to have infinite 4th shots without reloading(1/30, ~16 hours) NOC is notified that players can report firing infinite 4th shots with Jhin. Repro steps find a way to reproduce the issue, and the need for a disable is evaluated by a Producer. The call is made to not disable, but hotfix the problem before it becomes popular. The hotfix rolls out and the issue can’t be reproduced again.
