    New Champion - Kalista

    Following her champion reveal earlier todayKalista is now up for PBE testing!

    Kalista, The Spear of Vengeance

    Stats & Abilities

    Stats:
    (These may seem a little weird due to the preseason stat changes for all champions)
    • Base HP: 517.76 (+83 per level)
    • Base Mana: 231.8 (+35 per level)
    • Base Movement Speed: 325
    • Base Damage: 53.46 (+3.25 per level)
    • Base Mana Regen Per Second: 1.26 (+0.08 per level)
    • Base Attack Range: 550
    • Base Magic Resist: 30 (+0 per level)
    • Base Armor: 19.012 (+3.5 per level)
    • Base HP Regen Per Second: 1.2 (+0.11 per level)

    The Black Spear (Kalista's Unique Item that she starts with)

    Active: Bind with an ally for the remainder of the game,
    becoming Oathsworn Allies. Oathsworn empowers you both while
    near one another.  [Choice is intended to be permanent]

    Martial Poise (Passive)
    Kalista cannot cancel her attacks. If the target leaves vision, her attack will miss.
    If Kalista enters a movement command while winding up her basic attack or Pierce, she will drive through in that direction when she launches her attack, lunging a short distance.
    Dash distance scales with boot rank and is 25% greater when
    lunging backward.

    Pierce (Q)
    50/55/60/65/70 mana, 8 sec cooldown
    A fast but narrow projectile that deals 10/70/130/190/250(+100% total AD) physical damage. Triggers Martial Poise (P), Sentinel (W), and Rend (E).
    If it kills a target, Pierce continues onward, passing all stacks of Rend to the next target.

    Sentinel (W)
    25 Mana, 30 second cooldown
    Passive: When you and you Oathsworn both basic attack the same target within 1.5 seconds, you deal 12/14/16/18/20% of their max health as magic damage (minimum 100/125/150/175/200 damage to minions). 8 second cooldown per target.
    Active: Send a soul Sentinel to patrol an unseen area. Champions they see are revealed for 4 seconds. Sentinel lasts 7 laps.
    Kalista gains a charge of Sentinel every  90/80/70/60/50 seconds.

    Rend (E)
    35 mana, 14/12.5/11/9.5/8 sec cooldown
    While off cooldown, Kalista's spears pierce their target and linger there for 4 seconds.
    Active: Kalista rips the spears from nearby targets, dealing 20/30/40/50/60 (+60% total AD) physical damage and slowing their Movement Speed by 25/30/45/40/45% for 2 seconds. Each extra spear increases the damage by 25/30/35/40/45% , but not the slow.
    If it kills a target, Rend's cooldown is reset.

    Fate's Call (R)
    100 mana, 90/75/60 sec cooldown
    Draw Kalista's Oathsworn to her. For up to 4 seconds, the Oathsworn is untargetable but pacified.
    They may mouse click to fly toward target position, stopping at the first enemy champion hit, knocking all enemies in a small radius back and placing the Oathsworn at their maximum attack range from the enemy.
    Kalista's Oathsworn must be within 1400 units for her to cast  this ability.

    Voiceover / Lore

    As you may have heard, her voiceover includes: unique lines when starting a game on the different maps, special interactions when taunting Cassiopeia, Graves, Karthus, Lissandra, Twisted Fate, and Varus, numerous unique lines when purchasing items, and more!

    and here is Kalista's short in-client lore entry:
    "Kalista is an eternal spirit of retribution, who possesses a cold-burning hatred for all betrayers, deceivers, and traitors. In life, she was a legendary warrior, but while trying to avert tragedy she was betrayed and slain by those she trusted most. Now, she is an undying entity that can be invoked to exact vengeance, but only at great cost: the supplicant’s soul becomes forfeit, bound to her for eternity"

    Release Skin: Blood Moon  Kalista

     Last but not least we have Blood Moon KalistaKalista's release skin!

    Here's RiotBaconhawk with a bugs and feedback thread for Bloodmoon Kalista:
    "The mists swirl and part, wispy tendrils sliding hungrily across her undead arms. She pulls down her mask, silently creeping along the twisted treeline.
    With a hushed growl, she sends her specter to scout ahead. Its reddish glow turns the spooky green forest into an undulating mottled pattern of gray trees and black shadows. Even the moon above seems to dim.
    By its sinister light, she spots her prey ahead.
    Silently, she raises her spear back. The sharp, curved tip flows with bloody energy.
    With a grunt, she hurls it, and and springs forward in anticipation.
    Blood Moon Kalista has arrived.
    • An all new model with Blood Moon mask, new armor, new spectral scout
    • All new Blood Moon particles, with red and deep blue colors
    • A new recall animation, complete with new sounds
    Join her ranks, if you are brave."

    Updated Maokai Ability Icons

    To go along with his upcoming visual updates, Maokai now has a new set of ability icons.

    Passive / Q / W / E / R

    Maokai Visual Updates

    After problems being deployed last week, Maokai's updates are now on the PBE! He's got new models and textures for most of his skins, new visual effects, and more!

    Here's Ququroon has posted up a thread on the PBE boards concerning an these visual updates to Maokai!
    "Branching out to the PBE is Maokai, the Twisted Treant!
    Having gone through a growth spurt, Maokai now looks and feels more like the character he was meant to be. With an updated model and texture set, crisp new visual effects, new sounds to crush your enemies with and more, this plant come to life now feels more alive than ever. As usual, all of the above affects his skins as well.
    One of the other major goals on this project was to increase visual clarity for Maokai, his allies and his enemies. His ultimate is massively powerful, but was it ever really the most noticeable? Did his snare ever really feel as effective as it actually is? Could his saplings be even more awesome? We pushed these a bit, so hopefully you'll be able to feel the effects!
    We'd really appreciate it if you'd take a look at Maokai, and hit us with any bugs and feedback that come your way. Your feedback helps to guide changes we can make, as well as helps us grow as a team.
    Between the update to Summoner's Rift and now this, it certainly is a great time for our trees.

    Now for a better look!

    Maokai

    [Face glow = passive charged]
    [Visual indicator for Q slow]
    [W's root]
    [When Maokai's R is charged (full bonus damage), there is a new glow effect!]

    Charred Maokai

    Totemic Maokai

    Festive Maokai
    Haunted Maokai

    Goalkeeper Maokai is considered "modern" and has not been updated but he does have the new vfx.

    New Summoner Icons

    To go along with the new Battlecast Alpha Skarner and Battlecast Kog'Maw skins, there are two new Battlecast themed summoner icons in today's update! No details on availability just yet.

    Ability Bar and Buff Update

    Here's Rayven with information on ability bar and buff changes they are testing out:
    "Hello Summoners!
    Active items (items that come bundled with an ability) are tremendously powerful... if you can remember to use them! To address this, we're making a few changes to the ability bar that will better group and prioritize information.
    In particular, active item abilities are now displayed over your center ability bar! By placing them front and center, we hope to increase awareness and usage. Functionally, they will be ordered (and have the same hotkeys) as the slot they are assigned to in the item section.
    To supplement this change, we're also shifting buffs around.
    Left - Ambient Buffs. Buffs that do not contribute to moment-to-moment interactions are now located above your champion portrait. This includes auras, persistent states, and information that is already well-represented in game space. In addition, Buffs are left-justified, while Debuffs are right-justified.
    Center - Ability Trackers. Buffs that are core to your gameplay loop remain above your ability bar. This includes things like spell countdowns (Annie's Pyromania) and spell timers (Annie's Summon: Tibbers).
    We hope these changes will reinforce the ability bar as the tactical command center of game interaction. Try out the feature and let us know how you feel! As always, this is an iterative feature, which means we'll be making continued tweaks and improvements, even after we go live!"
    Here's an example where you can see buffs on the left side and item short cuts near the middle.

    Ward Skin Gifting

    Ward skin gifting is now available on the PBE!

    Here's Saberprivateer with more info:
    "Howdy Summoners!
    The Unlock Team has enabled ward skin gifting on PBE. Share the gift of sight and prevent ganks by sending a ward skin to your friends!
    Please help us test out this feature and report any bugs in this thread. See you on the rift..."

    While it functions like any other form of gifting, here's a look at it in the shop:

    More Texture Rebalances

    This PBE cycle also includes OVER 60 texture rebalances! Texture balances are aimed at aligning older champions and skins with the current art style of the updated Summoner's Rift. They are NOT replacing visual updates or model/texture updates!

    Other

    The new Victory and Defeat screens first introduced (but not hooked up) last PBE cycle are now enabled!

    Not sure when this was implemented but FLASH now has a summoner level requirement of 8 instead of 12!
    Smite is also now available at level 10 instead of level 3.

    There are new IP and EXP boost icons!

     Activate or consumable items now have  fancy border around them, likely in conjunction with the Ability Bar and Buff updates they are also being  tested.

    We also have more "KingPoro" files, mysteriously named set of file names much in the same vein of the "Ascension" files before they were developed into a new game mode, in the form of "TitanBarKingPoro.ini" located in the HUD files. Speculate away.

    The new End of Game assets have received  a few changes and they are now slightly animated, although they do not seem to be complete.

    Preseason 2015

    Preseason is to be back and ready for more testing, including all the jungle, objective, and item changes we saw during the last PBE cycle!

    Looking for more on the upcoming Preseason 2015 changes?

    [Note: Given the extremely tentative nature of these changes and Riot's lack of changelist / rough notes, it is extremely hard to keep up. Adding things as I spot them but be aware some changes are (unfortunately) not listed.]

    Now on to the new stuff:

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    11/12
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Just a few tweaks to the preseason items:

    Hunter's Machete
    • Passive - Jungler health regen while in combat with monsters lowered to 7 from 8

    Skirmisher's Sabre, Ranger's Trailblazer, Poacher's Knife,  Stalker's Blade
    • Passive - Jungler health regen while in combat with monsters lowered to 10 from 12.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    11/11
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    It is worth noting that the  "preseason 2015 map" has been renamed to just "Summoner's Rift Beta", presumably since the preseason changes likely are headed to live in 4.20.

    The biggest set of changes in today's update is a slew of new item and effect icons!

    First up is the new jungle item icons, which have a "gem slot" that changes based on which enchant you purchase.

    Skirmisher's Sabre
    Base  ( Empty ) + Enchants - Magus, Juggernaut, Devourer, Warrior

    Ranger's Trailblazer
    Base ( Empty ) + Enchants - Magus, Juggernaut, Devourer, Warrior

    Poacher's Knife
    Base ( Empty ) + Enchants - Magus, Juggernaut, Devourer, Warrior

    Stalker's Blade
    Base ( Empty ) + Enchants - Magus, Juggernaut, Devourer, Warrior

    There are also new variations of Smite's icon, color coded to match the different versions of Smite granted by each of the new jungle items!

    Scavenging BlastingChallengingChilling

    Each of the four new Elixirs also have their own unique icons now!

    Elixir of Ruin, Elixir of Iron, Elixir of Wrath, Elixir of Sorcery

    Finally, we have new item icons for the three brand new items:

    Raptor CloakRighteous Glory, Crystalline Bracer

    Outside of items, we also have an assortment of other icons!

    Scuttle Crab, the new jungle monster that roams the river and grants a speed shrine when killed, now has his own portrait icon.
    Baron's Empowered Recall, part of the new bonuses granted when slaying Baron Nashor, also has a new icon!
    The Homefield Advantage buff, which is NOT currently on the PBE, also has a new icon.

    There are also two new icons relating to the Dragon, one while gaining stacks of Dragon Slayer and one while at five stacks.
    [ Left = Stacks and Right = 5 Stacks ]

    New scoreboard assets to track number of dragon kills
    and here's what it looks like in-game! Each of the heads at the top fill a notch per stack of Dragon Slayer.

    The new shield granted by inner, inhib, and nexus towers (via the Vanguard item in each tower's inventory) is now white/silver instead of yellow/bronze colored.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Here's a few updates to changes from preseason:
    Stalker's Blade, Poacher's Knife, Skirmisher's Sabre, Ranger's Trailblazer
    • "Passive - Jungler" mana regen increased to 5 per second while in combat with monsters from 4.
    Elixir of Sorcery
    • Champion and Tower bonus true damage lowered to 25 from 40.
    The turret specific item "Reinforced Armor" has been increased to 200 armor and MR when no enemy minions are nearby from 150.
    The new jungle items, all of which build out of Hunter's Machete and alter the functionality of Smite, have been updated with slightly
    and here's the up to date versions of the jungle item enchants, which have slightly different stats or build paths compared to the versions last cycle.
    A lot of the health and mana regeneration items are also being updated to show the approximate regen boost the new +% regen stats do! As you can see in this screen shot below, the items give +25% base health and mana regen, which translates to +2 Heath per 5 seconds and +2 mana per 5 seconds for the particular champion I was using.
    There are new, uniquely colored sparkles for each camp's smite reward.
    Once again the Dragon Slayer buff has been changed! Here's the most update to date version, including several switched around or different bonuses:
    Scuttle Crab's speed shrine has been polished up a bit. In addition to now "swimming" to the shrine, you can see  him hanging out below the surface of the water!
    The smite reward for Krugs also has new vfx, small stones now appear around the champions hands.
    Likewise, the smite bonus for wolves is no longer a spirit wolf but instead a nature-y looking orb.
    Whenever an enemy runs by that orb, a wolf spawns and chases them!
    The "Homefield Advantage" buff that granted extra movement speed and defenses while in your own base has been removed.
    Balance Changes
    * Remember *: The PBE is a testing grounds for new, tentative, and sometimes radical changes. The changes you see below may be lacking context or other accompanying changes that didn't make it in - don't freak out! These are not official notes.
    [Note: Due to the preseason changes to base stats for every champion, the individual stat tweaks for each champion (as individual buffs/nerfs rather than part of the others) will seem slightly off.]
