November sales schedule

November's champion and skin sale schedule is up, including a selection of early sales for recently released skins that will go on sale near the end of the month!
"Check out all the champs and skins on sale this November! Like previous sales schedules, we’re not posting the exact dates for each champ and skin, but they’ll all be on sale sometime next month.
Just a heads up – since we’re publishing these in advance, we won’t offer partial refunds on champs and skins purchased before they go on sale."

The Client Update Alpha Ending Soon

The League Client Update Alpha will be ending soon as we prepare for the start of the open beta!
"Alpha testing for the League client update is nearly done! The open beta looms near.
If you haven’t yet signed up for the alpha, this is officially your last chance . When the Beta starts, the Alpha sub-nav screen and its feedback tools will go away, although you'll still be able report any bugs you encounter using the in-client bug button.
Up until this point, the alpha has been limited to players who manually applied using our alpha sign-up process. When the alpha ends, that will change. The open beta will be for everybody—the download will appear in the legacy client's launcher as a pop up. You can make the switch right then and there, fully replacing your existing client with the updated one.
Or, if you're not yet ready for the jump, you can opt out of the open beta to keep playing on the legacy client for the duration of the beta. If you make the jump and (for whatever reason) want to switch back to the legacy client, we'll give you a "downgrade" button during the open beta. Keep in mind that we won't support the legacy client indefinitely. When the open beta ends, every client will automatically patch to upgrade to the new experience.
Throughout the beta, the client update team will keep delivering minor features and bug fixes. For us, this period is a chance to give everything in the client a good polishing. We'll tweak animations, ship pretty new visual stuff, and optimize the client's performance. Mostly, we'll use the beta to make sure the updated client is a stable and overall better experience.
If you haven't already, be sure to sign up for one last ride on the alpha train.
FAQ
  • How do I get into the open beta if I'm already in the client update alpha?
    • If you're already an alpha tester, you can just continue using the updated client as normal. It'll keep updating itself whenever you launch it.
  • How big is the download for the open beta?
    • We're splitting up the download over several patches, so it'll feel smaller than it is, but we estimate that it'll be about a 1.5 GB download. After the beta has ended, we'll automatically clean out the old client's files, saving you space in the long run.
  • Can I keep playing on the old client indefinitely?
    • Put simply, no. By the end of the beta period, the updated client will be a feature-complete replacement of the legacy client (with some new features like Replays and minus a few very small things). It takes serious time and resources to support any large piece of software, so we’re going to be focusing these resources on the updated client. This will be especially true whenever we start shipping some really cool new features like practice tool and replays that will only be available on the updated client.
  • Will the open beta be missing any features from the legacy client?
    • Just a couple at the start. It'll take us a few patches to re-integrate spectate (for your friends and custom games) and the ability to join publicly hosted games using custom games. We're currently not planning to bring over the item set creator feature from the legacy client. Basically only an incredibly tiny percentage of players ever used the feature, and we've heard from many players that y'all don't care whether we bring item sets over so long as we continue to support 3rd party item set customization tools like Championify—and we will!"

Cactopus also commented in reddit regarding a few LCU related questions:

  • Changing in-game settings from the client will be added in the next one or two patches - src.
  • First RGMQ from LCU will ship during open beta. - src.
  • They'll be making something to for Alpha testers - src
  • Open Beta will not remove legacy client files. - src

Alpha client patch .12 changelog

With the League Client Update alpha ending soon, we also have a changelog for patch .12! Full note available here and below you'll find the introduction by Cactopus.
"Another patch, another changelog. But this isn't just any old changelog, With the end of alpha looming near and open beta approaching, this'll probably be the last changelog of the alpha.
As always, be sure to take surveys as they pop up and submit feedback and bug reports using the buttons on the client's alpha homepage. The alpha discussion board is the happening place for alpha testers.
Not yet signed up? Here's the application form."
