10/14 PBE Update: Continued Preseason 2021 Testing & Tentative Balance Changes

The PBE has been updated! As we continue the 10.22 PBE cycle, today's small update includes continued Preseason 2021 testing & tentative balance changes!

Continued Preseason 2021 Testing

Preseason continues testing on the PBE this cycle! Riot Scruffy noted what was being added to the PBE in today's update:
"Preseason PBE update today  
-Quick access inventory (functional but unpolished) 
-"Good against champion" - this is about 50% of what we will eventually show  
At this point as you use new shop on PBE, are there any other big things that make it hard to browse?"


Balance Changes

NOTE*: The PBE is a testing grounds for new, tentative, & potentially experimental changes. Be aware that what you see below may be relative to other changes from earlier this cycle! These are not official notes and may be incomplete.


  • Molten Shield (E)
    • Mana cost increased from 20 to 40
    • [Changed Effect] Annie grants herself or an ally a shield for 40/90/140/190/240 (+40% AP) for 3 seconds and 30-60% Movement Speed that decays over 1.5 seconds.
      While the shield is active, enemies who basic attack it take 20/30/40/50/60 magic damage.
      • (no longer applies shield to Tibbers too)

  • Fury of the Sands (R) 
    • bonus resistances increased from 15/35/55 to 40/55/70
    • [Removed] No longer gets incremental armor and MR

[NOTE: These are preseason specific due to crit & item changes - previous changelist here
  • Way of the Wanderer (Passive) Critical Strike chance above 100% is now converted into bonus AD.
    • [Ratio is currently .5 bonus AD for every 1% crit over 100% crit chance.]

TFT Traits

  • [Effect changed
Dazzler's spells reduce the attack damage of enemies hit for 8 seconds. 
  • 2 units: 40% Attack Damage reduction
  • 4 units: 80% Attack Damage reduction

At the start of combat, Keepers grant themselves a shield for 8 seconds. While the shield holds, incoming crowd control durations are reduced by 75%.
  • 2 units: 200-strength shield
  • 4 units: 300-strength shield
  • 6 units: 500-strength shield

TFT Champions

Tier 1
  • Ability bonus true damage increased from 40/75/125 to 50/90/140

Tier 4
  • Ability damage increased from 250/400/2000 to 375/600/2000

Context & Notes

1) Riot KateyKhaos noted they wouldn't be able to make changes to K/DA ALL OUT Evelynn's hair:
[1] "An update re: K/DA ALL OUT Evelynn's hair. After discussion + investigation with the team, it is not feasible to style her hair to reflect what Eve's promotional piece has. We do see the discrepancy and apologize that this isn't what you were expecting, based on teasers + splash."
[2] "This is due to both rig + animation limitations - her rig lacks the bones for a long, flowly hair style + this style would cause significant clipping throughout many of her animations, none which could be minimized without legendary-tier animation work - essentially new animation"
[3] "This was a difficult call on our part, but we wanted to provide clear updates as we get Evelynn and the other K/DA ladies ready for their main performance."

She also tweeted and upcoming change for Evelynn's R:

2) Here's Riot Katana with a quick tweet on the various features of Seraphine's ultimate skin:
[1] "Hey all, thanks for the feedback on all things K/DA! Since Seraphine just hit PBE yesterday but not everyone can play her, here is the list of the features on her Ultimate skin. [1/2]" 
[2] "Each Form has unique VFX, animations (recall, dance), an animated splash in the Client, VO (some overlap and some unique per Form), SFX, and a new reactive music system based on how many allies are nearby (each Form of Seraphine has a different track) [2/2]" 
[3] "There are a few other custom animations for specific Forms too, like idles for Rising Star and Homeguard (ft. Bao) for Indie. Again, let us know if you have feedback or questions here or on the r/LeaguePBE subreddit!"

3) On the topic of this PBE iteration of Yone and Yasuo's passive, EndlessPillows tweeted:
[1] "Ya we have tried both ends of the spectrum here. 

At +150% crit (Two items needed) the builds were locked to just Mythic + IE because the value of the crit multiplier is so high. 

At +66% crit (Three items needed) the spikes were not powerful enough, and they came too late. (1/2) "
[2] "Three items only also locked out a lot of items that used to be available that now have crit on them. 

The goal with this version is to make the spikes closer to what players expect, while also opening up the build options. (2/2)"
