[PBE] Global Splash Update Incoming!

[UPDATE: The first batch of these changes were included in the 3/25 PBE update.]

Here's Riot JxE with a heads up that several splash arts for older skins and champions will soon be updated to different versions from other region on the PBE :
"Hey folks,
As many of you (especially fans of the Chinese LoL scene) may know, some of our older skin and champion splash arts are different across the world. This is a big deal - splash art is one of most important tools we have for conveying a champion's fantasy and personality in League. We want players to have a global, unified experience - it's confusing when (ex.) Taric or Goth Annie have vastly divergent representations of their power and feel depending on which region you play League in.
Splashes are used everywhere: from champ select to the loading screen, portrait icons, the store, and more recently Hextech Crafting. With that in mind, we'll be updating a large number of our older splash arts to unify them across all regions. You should be seeing the first batch in today's PBE (and onward throughout the patch 6.7 PBE cycle), with another batch coming later in patch 6.8!"
Edit: Thanks for the feedback everyone. We won't be making any reverts or changes during this round, but this feedback will help our splash artists prioritize what to upgrade when they get the chance. I mentioned this in a comment, the benefit of making these changes is to eliminate a pipeline that has been causing us internal pain. We know some of these aren't as nice and the art style is off, but choosing one splash or the other was the fastest way to kill this pipeline. We want to focus on new content and features, not firefighting and changes like this help us do that.
Scarizard added:
"China will get some of our art, and we'll get some of theirs. While some pieces have been slightly altered this is more about unifying the existing art across all regions, not introducing entirely new art."
When asked about the previously announced skin splash art updates for champions updates, Scarizard added this is not that::
"If you're referring to new splashes for older, reworked champions by the Champion Update team - this is not that work. This is purely unifying the existing content. Then, as new splashes come out (be they for new skins or old), all regions will get the new art."
Over on reddit, JxE added:
"Just to clear up some confusion. One of the big reasons we made this splash art change was to eliminate a pipeline for getting specific content in for Tencent that has been costing us time to maintain. We know that some of these are weird and don't fit our art style, but our choices were limited to, Riot version or Tencent version, pick one or the other. Our splash artists are busy making splashes for new skins and champions and we didn't want to pull them off of those to clean up a pipeline.
I know this isn't ideal and all regions are feeling pain from this change, but cleaning up these pipelines means we can focus our developer's time on features and not firefighting."
He continued:
"Some Riot art was replace by Tencent and some Tencent art was replaced by Riot. We didn't force things one way or the other, we just tried to pick the best of the two given the situation.
Every time we add a new feature we have to make new content for both pipelines. So Hextech Crafting has some new thumbnails for everything. We have to make double the thumbnails for every splash that has both. Unifying splashes means we only focus on one and save less time in the long run."

To help understand these changes, Ququroon tweeted out:
"Confused about the Global Splash Update? Perhaps this picture will help! #LeagueOfLegends

Hextech Crafting live on LAN, LAS, BR, OCE, & RU + Discussion!

Following the EUW and EUNE launches, Hextech Crafting is now live on BR, LAN, LAS, OCE, and RU - all Riot regions except KR and JPN now have the new system online!

Individual server announcements available here:

Need a refresher on how the new Hextech Crafting system works? Check out this Hextect Crafting Guide from Riot Support!
In addition to those regional launches, here's a few more red posts on the new crafting system:

For those new to the system, RiotWingfield clarified what is available to open out of the Hextech Chests:
"Just wanted to clarify some of the bullets above :) The following items are available in a Hextech chest:
Champ Shard; Skin Shard; Ward skin Shard; Summoner Icon Permanent; Cosmetic Essence; Gemstone"

RiotWingfield  also commented on the perceived "value" of chests and keys purchased for RP, as well as reminder the system also offers players a chance to pick up RP
"Hey Calculus,
We've tried to be very careful about tuning this system so that it always offers great value to players. We've ensured you are always guaranteed greater RP value back than you put into the system for any initial upgrade or re-roll (acknowledging we need to ship the alternative value proposition solution for champion shards). We also offer players direct purchase on most items in the box, so that players always have a path to a specific item they want. It's completely optional and a player who engages in crafting gives up some choice in order to get a discount. We've also intentionally put purchase limits on this system to help minimize the chances of purchase regret, since we strive to ensure players feel good before, during and after purchase. Finally, we also give away chests AND keys totally free, which allow players to get previously RP-only content for free.
Hopefully, these design values help make you feel better about the value proposition of this crafting system."
Riot MoreChrono added in:
"The content is "locked in" when you unlock the chest.
New skins that are obtainable through Hextech Crafting are added to the loot tables when they become available for purchase."

When asked about what players who own all champions are to do with champion shards, Wingfield reminded they will have additional uses in the future:
"We will have additional value options coming to champion shards in the future, so stay tuned!"

Sade’s ALL Chat Artwork

Next up is a look at all of community artist Sade's ALL Chat art work!
"Sade is a long-time League fan and incredible artist. You’ve probably seen her work in or out of client before, and her distinct style and love of League made her the perfect artist to collaborate with for ALL Chat! She’s even been a guest on the show last year. Here’s a roundup of some of Sade’s ALL Chat thumbnails from the past year. Check out Sade on Twitter and Facebook
Sade was one of the artists who helped create the League of Legends Facebook stickers. Using Zed as the focus, Sade imagined a happier, sunnier, sticker-filled Summoner’s Rift.
The entire conversation went something like: “Sade, do the four juggernauts who are causing such a ruckus at Worlds but like The Beatles Abbey Road.” “Okay.”
For the tattoo episode, we made Darius’ pain the focus. The tattoo artist is based off one of the producers’ actual tattooists.
We wanted something about “getting pumped for the new season!” and Sade delivered beefcakey Illaoi and Braum. Good times.
Purely a personal want in our lives, I wanted to see Sade draw Sejuani fighting Leona. And here it is.
Happy Holidays! Santa Rek’sai has tunneled her way into our hearts, minds, and homes.
We’re big Bard fans, so you’ll see him show up in ALL Chat stuff more often than not. We needed a champion who’d take his entourage to see the NC LCS Summer Finals at MSG, and Bard fit the bill.
Smug Fizz’s jerkface says it all. Don’t be Fizz, kids."
