Introducing Zed, the Master of Shadows

Posted on at 3:13 PM by Moobeat
Say hello to our next champion, Zed, the Master of Shadows!
Continue reading  and more information, from Morello, about Zed's kit and the full sneak peak.

Here is Morello's brief preview of the Zed's play style and kit, a bit earlier than usual.
"Hey guys,

So we’re going to be doing a big reveal on this stuff soon, but I wanted to give you a quick gameplay peek of the next champion – the Shadow Ninja.

We’ve worked hard to make a cool gameplay loop that is really ninja-y and lets you be pretty clever. Let me run you through it real fast;

• He can make a stationary shadow of himself that then copies his skills when used. For example, you can throw a skillshot shuriken and he’ll also throw one. If they both hit, then you hit with two!
• He can swap places with his shadow to be elusive, set up ganks, or dodge skillshots
• All his skills can double hit!
• Yes, he uses energy

Shadow Ninja’s gameplay isn’t about deceptive clones, but instead copying himself to extend and increase his power or mobility. And since his moves deal with areas or skillshots, setting up the right positioning to double-hit and maximize your damage is really important.

OK theorycrafters…all yours!"

As for the full sneak peak...

"Since early antiquity, shadows have long been a subject of fascination. If you’re a scientist, your shadow is probably a simple projection of light. If you’re more spiritual, your shadow might be a reflection of your more shady whims. And if you’re following a forbidden path filled with dark techniques and even darker motives, it’s possible that your shadow is a sinister companion ready to help you pull off a vicious assassination in some dark corner of the Fields of Justice.

While we’re delving into the forbidden ways, allow us to introduce Zed, a relentless ninja master who’ll leave your enemies scared of their own shadows."

  5. Wow, I see the potential of him being really OP once people master him.

    1. That's how every champ is if you "master" them.

    2. It is unbelievable to me that anyone still says these words.

    3. some champions are a lot stronger than others even if u master them
an easy example is a fully farmed adc in the hands of an player that has mastered it can easily beat a fully farmed support champion
and i know that they play different rolles
but the bottom line is that some champions are stronger than others (they have better or more specialized set of skills)
also the potential of dealing x2 constant damage is a clear advantage

    4. No what is crazy is the fact that EVERYONE sees or read something about a new champ and they immediately go:

ERMAGERD, SOZ OPZ DA FUQ Ri0T WEE HATEZ U!

Like chill out with that shit and learn the champ and stuff first. Stop being so dramatic and shit. Now a days everyone just says every champ is op from a paragraph or a spotlight. If you go look at the old Karma spotlight and look at the very first comments on youtube, EVERYONE is saying she is op. Ha what a letdown that was....

  12. Meh, I thought it was Talon's nemesis or something at first, the characters look pretty similar in style. Except for that Zed is an actual ninja.

  13. sounds like he'll be high skill caped but rewarding.

    1. The way I look at it, there has been a support champ after Lulu: Zyra. So technically Riot only needs one more.

      Delete
    2. Support is 'not right after Elise' as morello said.

      Delete
    3. Yeah but it's been like 1 or 2 every month so far and we're in the 11th month of the year already and they haven't shared anything else about a new support. Also Zyra is a mage.

  16. Honestly, despite the fact that ninja champion and energy user is always awesome, the clone thing will be fun to deal with, tho probably setting the skill cap pretty high, i was actualy expecting to see Zelos someday as an ionia champions, yes irelia's brother.

  17. Reminded me of Silhouette from Heroes of Newerth!

    1. oh and for the backround looks like he is ionian (you know ionia is similar to japan or some asian cultures)

  21. I'd like him to be as irritating as Shaco.

  22. "Boram Darkwill lies dead, the Crimson Elite have failed."

"It seems in the end I must do everything myself."

    ReplyDelete
  23. More assassins?! Not that I'm complaining! I just hope the meta will change in S3 to more support their playstyle.

    ReplyDelete
  24. "Talon I am ur Father !!!"
    -Zed, the Master of Shadows-

    ReplyDelete
  25. I really wish they'd make a Q named champion to complete the cycle. Quincy, Quella, or Quinn.

Also...Zed. Weird name for a Ninja, but I'll buy him day one. That'll give me Shen and Zed

    ReplyDelete
  26. so zed is a rip off of talon and shen

    ReplyDelete
  27. okay.. my theory is..

his clone is an aoe nuke that upon activating again at no additional cost within a certain timeframe allows him to switch places.

his skill shoot shuriken is very similar to lulu's slow but if both shurikens hit you, they cause a either a stun or silence.

his last remaining skill should be some form of self-boosting either attack or movement

his ult creates up to 5 clones of himself, hence, the little sneakpeek morello gave us..

    ReplyDelete
  28. Wanna' see more of his fluff. With his look, he could be related to Talon. A mentor perhaps? Could be another way to get specific lines between the two.

Also, countdown to Zed's dead quotes...

    ReplyDelete
  29. ...HIS ULTIMATE WILL SUMMON...THE SHADOW KHAN.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Looks like Talon's evil brother.

  31. Who needs a medical license when you've got style?

  32. finally a champ with shadows power~<3

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. well, it's great that there is a shadow power champ now, but don't really need another assassin, and Zed is a pretty weird name. He looks op though, so I will purchase!

      Delete
  33. why do we need another ninja?
We really need a champ that starts with q.
But he does look pretty awesome, so bring on Zed, the Master of the Shadows!

    ReplyDelete
  34. that mask and the name zed reminds me of Lord Zedd from the the original Power Rangers Series

    ReplyDelete
  35. Morello said he's currently fit for mid and maybe jungle. Confirmed that he doesn't stealth, so he won't be like Shaco with him and his clone.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I hope they make a support champ after Zed, Lulu's feeling lonely.

    ReplyDelete
  37. He is a high mobility champion so maybe he will have some form of gap closer. Im thinking leBlanc dash but creates a clone?!?

    ReplyDelete
  38. On Lol wiki you have his abilities if you want to see :

    Leaked abilities from Riot Database:

Passive: Zed's Shadows deal on-hit effects and take 40% more damage from Attacks and spells.

Q: Zed throws a Skillshot Ninja-Shuriken at your mouse cursor dealing physical damage to target hit. If Zed uses Ninja-Shuriken, while he has placed a Shadow, it will also throw a Shuriken at same target dealing damage if hit.

W: Passive: Zed gains bonus movement speed

Active: Zed places a stationary Shadow at target position

E: If cast on a Shadow, Zed swaps places with it and if cast on an enemy Champion, he dashes to the traget.

R: Zed creates a group of Shadows which are copy of Zed and behave like him too. All deal same ammount of damage as true damage and also Zed can swap posiotion with each of the shadow.
