5/2 PBE Update: New Summoner Icon & Tentative Balance Changes

The PBE has been updated! As we continue the 8.10 PBE cycle, today's patch includes a Poro-riffic new summoner icon, as well as more tentative balance changes!

New Summoner Icon

A fluffy new summoner icon is now on the PBE!

Balance Changes

NOTE*: The PBE is a testing grounds for new, tentative, & experimental changes. Be aware that what you see below may be relative to other changes earlier this cycle! These are not official notes.

Champions
Azir
  • Base HP lowered from 552 to 500
  • Attack speed per level increased from 1.5 to 2.5
  • HP5 increased from 7 to 10
  • HP5 per level increased from .55 to .75
  • Conquering Sands (Q) damage increased from 60/80/100/120/140 to 70/90/110/130/150
  • Arise! (W) 
    • recharge time lowered from 8/7.5/7/6.5/6 to 6 at all ranks.
    • AP ratio lowered from 60% to 40%
    • cost lowered from 40 at all ranks to 20/25/30/35/40
    • damage changed from [60-160 based on level] to 60/80/100/120/140
    • Attack speed lowered from 20/30/40/50/60% to 25/30/35/40/45%
    • Additional attack speed increased from 20/30/40/50/60% to 30/35/40/45/50%
    • Recast time lowered from 1.5s to 1s
    • Sand Soldier changes:
      • Sand Soldier duration changed from 10 seconds at all ranks to 4/5.5/7/8.5/10 seconds
      • [Added to tooltip] Sand Soldiers can attack targets outside of Azir's basic attack range.
      • Sand Soldiers deal 50% damage to minions that aren't their primary target.
      • Soldier pass through damage increased from [25/50/75/100 at levels 1/6/11/16] to 100%
  • Shifting Sands (E)
    • cost increased from 60 at all ranks to 100 at all ranks
    • cooldown increased from 19/18/17/16/15 to 24/21/18/15/12
    • damage AP ratio increased from 40% to 50%
    • damage increased from 60/90/120/150/180 to 100/120/140/160/180
    • shield lowered from 80/120/160/200/240 to 60/105/150/195/240
  • Emporer's Divide (R) damage changed from 150/250/450 to 200/300/400

Kha'Zix
  • Evolved Adaptive Cloaking  (Evolved R) -  Stealth linger after leaving brush lowered from [1.50 seconds] to [up to 1 second(s) if the brush is left immediately with a .25s minimum" [context

Ryze
[Ryze changes returning for more testing - Original context thread]
  • Overload (Q) 
    • Cost increased from 40 to 50/60/70/80/90
    • [New Effect] Deals [20/24/28/32/36/40% at 1/4/7/10/13/16] additional damage as true damage to enemies with Flux (replaces E bonus damage mechanic)
  • Rune Prison (W)
    • [Removed] No longer has a mana cost
    • [New Effect] Casting Rune Prison restores 6/7/8/9/10% of Ryze's maximum Mana
    • Cooldown changed from 13/12/11/10/9 to 15/13/11/9/7
    • Bonus mana increased from 1% to 4%
    • CC type changed from [roots for 0.75 seconds] to [applies a 50% slow that decays over 1.25 seconds]
  • Spell Flux (E)
    • Cooldown changed from 3.25/3.00/2.75/2.50/2.25 to 3.5/3.0/2.5/2.0/1.5
    • Cost increased from 60/70/80/90/100 to 60/80/100/120/140
    • [Removed] Overload Damage Bonus (replaced by Q true damage mechanic)
    • W Bonus changed from [Increased Root Duration] to [Roots instead of slowing]
    • Bounce Radius (also applies to Q) lowered from 350 to 275
    • [Added to tooltip] "Bounce ranges are significantly larger against champions, large minions, and large monsters."
    • Spread Radius changed from [350 (center to center)] to [450 (center to edge) vs. champions , large minions, and large monsters]
      • 200 (center to edge) vs. all other units
    • Spread Damageincreased from 50% to 100%

Sion
[Context]
  • HP regen lowered from 2 to 1.4
  • Roar of the Slayer (E) 
    • damage lowered from 70/105/140/175/210 to 50/75/100/125/150
    • slow changed from 40/45/50/55/60% to 60% at all ranks
    • armor reduction duration increased from 2.5 seconds to 4 seconds

    • "Armor reduction applies to passed through targets"

Items
Essence Reaver
[Essence Reaver has extensive changes in testing on the PBE!]
  • Unique Passive tooltip updated for clarity:
"After you cast your ultimate, your next basic attack within 10 seconds grants you Essence Flare for 8 seconds (30 second cooldown). 
Essence Flare: Gain 30% attack speed, and basic attacks refund 20% of your remaining non-ultimate cooldowns."

Enchantment: Runic Echoes
[Context]
  • +60 AP
  • +10% CDR
  • +300 Mana
  • [New Effect] UNIQUE Passive - Echo:
Gain charges upon moving or casting. At 100 charges, the next damaging spell hit expends all charges to deal 60 (+10% of Ability Power) bonus magic damage to up to 4 targets on hit. 
Thiseffect deals 250% damage to Large Monsters. Hitting a Large Monster with this effect will restore 25% of your missing Mana. 
Limited to 1 Gold Income or Jungle item."

Runes
Minion Dematerializer
[Minion Dematerializer a new functionality in testing on the PBE!]
  • Minion values changed:
"Melee minions give 1 armor and 2 movement speed.
Caster minions give 1 magic resist and an adaptive 1.2 attack damage or 2 ability power.
Siege minions give 8 health and 2% bonus damage to structures and epic monsters."

Context & Notes


1) On the Kha'Zix evolved R changes, GreaterBulgaWhale explained:
"Gonna clarify this mechanic since the tooltip isn't the most clear: it is 1s of TOTAL stealth time when you exit the brush (with a .25s minimum). 
ie: you spend .5s in brush, then exit, you only get .5s of stealth out of brush. you spend 1.5s in brush, then exit, you only get .25s of stealth out of brush. 
so its kinda: you get a private brush inside your brush..."

2) Phroxz0n noted context on the Sion changes in today's PBE Update:
"For a bit more context:
  • Wanting Sion to not be able to max E and complete the lane.
  • Still want him to be decent into some of the more short/mid-range ranged threats, but less with just E spam.
  • Still want to be respectful to AD sion, regular tank Sion, (AP comet sion).
  • Facilitate the EQ combo where possible to give him windowed threat against ranged and actually allow him to capitalise on it.
  • Not be able to stonewall the lane so reliably, with rejuv beads coupled with high base HP regen."

3) Riot Axes noted Essence Reaver had other changes coming later this cycle:
"Swapping to a "first basic attack after you ult grants the buff" paradigm in testing. That's not locked in, but seems promising so far. (I believe it's bugged on PBE today though :/ )"

"Also small extra note: we have version of Runic Echoes on PBE that we'll be pulling in favor of a different iteration that was receiving more positive internal feedback. The shape of that item looks more like the following: "

I’m Riot Novalas & I’m a QA Analyst on Riot’s Playtest Team, a group of high elo players who work on Core Gameplay playing new and in dev content before they’re released. It’s our job to test the changes that our designers come up with to ensure that we’re introducing positive changes to League in terms of both balance and fun. 
Rather than a Patch Chat, we’re opting for a new approach these next few patch cycles. Lots of changes are planned in the upcoming patches and a lot of content is or has been on PBE for awhile.
