SR Open Beta Live in All Queues

The updated Summoner's Rift open beta is now available in RANKED queues, making it now available across all SR queues.

The official announcement has been updated with the following information:
"The update to Summoner’s Rift is live in Ranked, Normals, Customs, Team Builder, and bot modes.
We’re also commemorating the launch of the update to Summoner’s Rift with two exclusive new icons.
You can earn each icon by winning a game on each side of the map in Ranked, Normals, or Team Builder. Win once on red side? Earn the red side icon. Win a game as the blue team? The blue side icon is yours. Win as red and blue both? You’re the new owner of two nifty icons. Do it at the same time somehow? You’ve broken the internet and your prize is the singularity. The icons will be available for the next several weeks and may take a few days to show up on your account.
Baron Nashor and friends await, so why are you still reading this? Log in and throw down on the Rift’s updated look!"

The server status page has also been updated to the following message:
"The update to Summoner’s Rift is live in Ranked, Normal, Custom, Team Builder, and bot modes! This is it, we've hit all queues! Thanks again for participating in the updated Summoner's Rift rollout!"

A Long Way from Alpha: Letter from the Co-Founders

Ryze and Tryndamere, the co-founders of Riot Games, have also posted up a letter to all players in light of the Summoner's Rift update moving to all queues on live.
"When we first saw early concepts for the updated Summoner’s Rift, we were struck by how far League had come. A little over six years ago, we were in an office closet we called a conference room during the earliest days of Riot having started over from scratch on the game’s first map. Ryze had yet to learn how to grow a beard. Trynd still had his goatee. Neither of us were married, let alone with children.
In the years since, we’ve celebrated a few birthdays, welcomed new family members, and said good-bye to standard definition television. We’ve brought on experienced and talented artists, engineers, and designers who’ve done more than just slap a fresh coat of paint on the Rift. They’ve continued to evolve it into an experience that’s clear, cohesive and compelling.
Because Summoner’s Rift is more than just the stage for our incredible comebacks and insane pentakills, for many of us it’s a second home. It’s where we laugh, cry, and tryhard with friends and with strangers. We’re excited to lay an updated foundation on the bedrock of League’s gameplay.
The journey is still just beginning. With a community as large and passionate as the one we're proud to be a part of, we’ll continue to refine, iterate, and update as we experience and share new epic moments on League’s main stage, together. See you on the Rift.

Ryze and Tryndamere."

Reaper Soraka Will Soon Depart

As mentioned in her original release announcement, Reaper Soraka is heading into the legacy vault soon!
Here's Riot Paradox with a reminder to pick her up before she leaves the shop!
"Her culling complete, Reaper Soraka will return to the dark sanctuary she calls home.
Harvest the power of fallen souls with Reaper Soraka (1350 RP) before she goes into the Legacy Vault on November 21."

NA Downtime for Hardware Maintenance

Tonight the NA servers will be going down for about 12 hours for a scheduled hardware maintenance.

Here's the NA Server status entry regarding this downtime:
"We’re bringing NA offline tomorrow (November 19) starting at 12:01am PST. For about 12 hours, you won’t be able to log into the client or play League on the NA server. We’ll start disabling ranked queues at 22:30pm on Nov 18, and we’ll update the service status page once League is back online."

Riot Ahab also jumped on the boards with more information:
"Hey gang, just a reminder: we’re bringing NA offline for scheduled downtime tomorrow (November 19) starting at 12:01am PST. For about 12 hours, you won’t be able to log into the client or play League on the NA server. We’ll update the service status page once League is back online.
During downtime, there are a few other leagueoflegends.com features you won’t be able access: referring a friend, signing up for a new account, changing your password, updating your email address, or modifying your account.
Personally, I’m going to power through Dragon Age: Inquisition during the downtime. What about you guys?"
He continued, noting the downtime is for hardware maintenance:
"Super-thrilling hardware maintenance! We'll need the time to change out some hardware, transfer data onto the new stuff and then make sure it's all working OK before opening the floodgates once again.
It's not quite as quick as a NASCAR pit crew, but we're getting there!"
He continued, sharing that it is indeed the "server migration" that was discussed in October then pushed back.
"Yes, back before we realized calling it a "migration" was a terrible way to describe the project. You can read more about the original post here
The main advantages of this hardware maintenance should be increased stability, but odds are you won't notice much in terms of tangible impact you'll feel in game."
Riot Ahab continued:
"It's like you know the NA Roadmap by heart! (tears of pride add double stacks to [Tear of the Goddess]
Yes, this downtime will address phase 1 to update our hardware and infrastructure. Phase 2 is an ongoing process already happening behind the scenes, but it's not ready for prime time just yet.
Phase 3 is a little further out on the horizon, so we don't have dates to share just yet. Still locking down location and logistics to make it happen!"

Riot Ahab also clarified that this is NOT THE PATCH 4.20 MAINTENANCE.
"Bingo - there will be a separate downtime for patch 4.20."
[YOU CAN FIND THE SERVER MAINTENANCE TIMES FOR PATCH 4.20 HERE]

As for if this will have anything to do with the upcoming refer-a-friend changes, he noted:
"No RaF update with this downtime - it's purely focused on hardware fixes and upgrades for the NA server architecture. I do know that RaF updates are coming, but I personally can't speak to the timeline that team is working on."

Love for other Maps

ManWolfAxeBoss also briefly mentioned that with the SR update finally on live and being polished up, he'd soon be turning his attention back to Dominion and Twisted Treeline.
"Hey dudes,

Maps team has been completely wrapped up in the SR update for a while now, but we haven't forgotten about you. As soon as things cool off a bit, I'll be devoting time to alt maps again. Looking forward to it!"
