TFT Armories Changes

The TFT twitter noted a change to Armories that is now testing on the PBE:
[1]  On PBE now and coming to LIVE with Patch 11.12, Armories will have a lot more to offer, a bit more often. Here are the basics: Downwards arrow

[2] 1. Armories will be appearing as normal on Stage 2-2 and 4-2, but now we’ll be adding even more armories with even MORE loot drops. These new Armories have a chance to drop on stage 3-2, 5-2, 6-2, 7-2, etc.
[3] 2. All players will gain access to the Armories at the same time, but the contents can be anything from Completed Items, to Special Items (Neeko, Reforger, Item Remover, Loaded Dice), and even Emblems!
[4] 3. Players who survive to 5-6 stages should expect to see about 1-2 of these new Armories, in addition to the classic armories that’ll drop as normal. However, there’s also a chance you won’t see any, even if you don’t take an 8th.
[5] 4. In Hyper Roll these new and improved Armories only have a chance to appear at 4-1, 7-3, and 9-2. So you’ll need to last a while before seeing multiple.

    • Kit Kat Hextech Key

  • Skin bios added to the PBE:
    • Toxic Dr. Mundo: ""Mundo not toxic, Mundo has healthy emotional coping mechanisms-- oh, you mean purple goo? Mundo is sure that's fine, too."
    • Mr. Mundoverse: "Mundo didn't mean to become fitness influencer, but Mundo's gains speak for themselves. Mundo recommends never skipping leg day, eating lots of protein, and smashing that like and subscribe button for more Mr. Mundoverse content."
    • Executioner Mundo: "Executioner Mundo thinks people should not be so scared of him. Executioner Mundo puts on pants and chops up prisoners one leg at a time, just like Mundo pleases."
    • Rageborn Mundo: "There are many tales of the Rageborn menace: that he's slain dragons with a single cleave, that the mightiest wizards cannot halt his advances, that no noble knight foolish enough to try and stop him has ever come back alive. The accounts often contradict each other, but the one thing they all agree on is this: Where Mundo goes, no one else pleases."
    • Pool Party Braum: "Braum's tiki lemonades are a lot like him-- tall, sweet, and very popular with poros. Even the Boss is willing to wait his turn to get a glass!"
    • Pool Party Sett: "Braum's tropical drinks are a favorite of Sett's-- the sweeter the taste and the bigger the flowers, the better! Anyone who has a problem with that can take it up with the Boss. He'll call the Lifeguard for you."
  • The Dr. Mundo client background theme was added to the PBE:
  • Frozen Prince Mundo chroma assets were added to the PBE:

Context & Notes

1) Riot Porosite noted this was the last update of the week:
"Heads up! This will be the last 11.12 PBE patch until next Tuesday. See ya'll next week."
2) Riot Nyanbun tweeted a thread on tech she used and created for Dr. Mundo:
"Now that Dr. Mundo has been on PBE for a hot sec, let’s talk tech!
For his rework I identified two potential bodies of work: 1. “Goes where he pleases” passive and 2. Ult transform
The passive CC Immunity represented an opportunity to unify the way we approach CC from the game engine perspective. I took the liberty while we were still months out from preprod to do a deep dive on CC and came up w some interesting results
Most times CCs like charm call into raw lua routines that take control of units’ AI state and dictates their behavior. The way CC is applied was confusing for designers as well, since there were a hodgepodge of scripts that had very similar names but did different things.
I began by removing the confusion for designers in Charm’s case—you might remember the weird charm bugs back in July that was my tinkering😅 This was proof of concept for other CCs like Taunt and Stun. It also set us up to convert the raw lua into C++ down the line.
What did all this have to do with Mundo? Going back to his CC immunity, it made knowing how to prevent CC from being applied a lot easier from script, while also setting the foundation for engine-controlled types of CC as well as CC Immunity.
Another thing I custom made for Mundo passive was the randomness logic for his canister drop—other types of “drop a thing randomly here” didn’t really exist prior or is pseudo random. For example Poppy’s shield is actually just 2 possibilities that’s a coin flip.
I later had to fix some bugs that had the canister landing in terrain. Which I learned the hard way was why random drop logic wasn’t done earlier. Trying to probe every possibility was computationally expensive and there’s a balance between game feel and mathematic perfection"
