3/5 PBE Update: Loot Assets & Tentative Balance Changes

The PBE has been updated! As we continue the 11.6 PBE cycle, today's patch includes loot assets and more tentative balance changes!

Table of Contents


  • A new loot asset is now on the PBE:
    • Battle Academia 2021 Capsule
      • "Open to reveal three random skin shards with a 4% chance to obtain a Durandal Bag. Gemstone and Mythic Skin drop rate multiplied by 1.5 with three chances for each type of drop."

  • Other loot strings were added, no assets yet:
    • Durandal Bag
      • Open to reveal three Working Life skin shards! You'll also get a Fringe Benefit roll (70% chance for two 750+ skin shards OR 30% chance for three random skin shards). Gemstone and Mythic Skin Permanent drop rates multiplied by 1.5. (Working Life is a selection of skins from the Chef, Day Job, April Fools, Battle Academia, and Academy skinlines.) 
    • Grubhub Masterwork Chest
      • Requires a Grubhub Hextech Key to open.

Balance Changes

NOTE*: The PBE is a testing grounds for new, tentative, & potentially experimental changes. Be aware that what you see below may be relative to other changes from earlier this cycle! These are not official notes and may be incomplete.


Xin Zhao
  • Determination (Passive)
    • Heal amount lowered from [10-112 (+10% AD)(+40% AP)] to [7-92 (+10% AD)(+55% AP)]
  • Three Talon Strike (Q)
    • bonus physical damage lowered from [20/28/36/44/52] to [16/25/34/43/52]
  • Wind Becomes Lightning (W)
    • various QoL/hitbox clarity adjustments
    • Thrust damage increases up to 33% based on Critical Strike Chance
    • cast time now a static 0.5s, instead of scaling with Attack Speed
    • Mana Cost increased from 45 to 60
    • W2 range increased from 900 to 1000
    • W2 damage lowered from 40/75/110/145/180 (+80% tAD) to 40/75/110/145/180 (+80% tAD)(+50% AP)
    • Cooldown lowered from 12/11/10/9/8 to 12/10.5/9/7.5/6
    • W2 now Challenges Champions/Monsters and provides vision of the target for 3 seconds
    • Deals 50% damage to minions
  • Audacious Charge (E)
    • Cast range in increased to 1100 on Challenged targets
    • Cooldown lowered from 12s to 11s
    • Dash speed lowered from 3000 to 2500
  • Crescent Guard (R)
    • New ability power ratio: 110%
    • Duration increased from 3s to 5s
    • No longer extended by basic attacks and spells

Vampiric Scepter
  • Lifesteal reverted from 80% to 10%

  • Total cost reverted from 3450 to 3400 
    • Combine cost reverted from 650 to 600

Ravenous Hydra
  • Total cost reverted from 3350 to 3300 
    • Combine cost reverted from 150 to 100 

Blade of the Ruined King
  • Lifesteal lowered from 12% to 10%
  • Total cost reverted from 3250 to 3200
    • Combine cost reverted from 475 to 425

Sanguine Blade
  • Total cost reverted from 3050 to 3000
    • Combine cost reverted from 1050 to 1000

Liandry's Anguish
  • [New passive] "Agony: Deal up to 12% bonus magic damage based on the target's bonus health (maxed at 1250 bonus health)."
  • [Removed Effect] "Whilst burning, they lose 5% Magic Resist per second (max reduction 15%)."

Luden's Tempest
  • [New Effect] "Dealing ability damage to Champions reduces this item's cooldown by 1 second, up to 3 seconds per spell cast."

Immortal Shieldbow
  • Lifesteal lowered from 12% to 10%
  • Total cost reverted from 3450 to 3400
    • Combine cost reverted from 650 to 600 

  • Total cost reverted from 3250 to 3200
    • Combine cost reverted from 900 to 850 

Context & Notes

1) Riot Scruffy tweeted a tentative changelist for Xin Zhao that is now testing on the PBE:
Xin Zhao has been struggling a bit both from a power and satisfaction standpoint.

One of our SR designers, @TheTruexy, has been working on a nice little upgrade for him. Best part is the new W->E combo (in bold).

No release date yet, still looking for feedback.
He also provided a changelist for healing reduction items in 11.6:
"Testing round 2 of systemic healing reduction for 11.6 
In some cases this will be nerfs but in others it will be shifting stats keeping power neutral 
Hopefully this is the last set of these and we can be in a good state where healing is a notable choice and not a baseline"
