Quick Gameplay Thoughts: October 20

Here's Meddler with his quick gameplay thoughts for October 20th, including thoughts on Zac, Evelynn's homeguard animation, AP Junglers, and more:
"Morning folks,
Usual Disclaimers
These posts will often contain talk about future work we're doing, or planning to do, that isn't yet guaranteed to ship. The nature of the work could change or, depending on what we discover, projects mentioned may get put delayed or even stopped.

Zac stuff in testing
We're trying out some Zac changes at the moment. Goal of those is to make his Q a less powerful spell, through lower reliability in particular, and then buff him in other ways. Possible changes look like Q having less range and a shorter less break distance, but in exchange Q CD starting on first cast, rather than Q2 or expiration, plus a bit more damage on W. Overall goal would be a slight buff.
Looking at AP junglers a bit
We're going to take a look at a couple of AP champs from a jungle perspective, see if we can give them a bit of help. Not sure on timing, given there's some more critical work (runes stuff mainly) that's demanding a lot of work right now, hoping to do some explorations during the next few patches though. That might mean work on AP champs who already jungle, or at least used to in the past, could also mean work on AP champs with play patterns that would be fine in the jungle who just haven't been good enough at clearing historically to do so (e.g. someone like Morg might be a good candidate, Annie given her high reliability when ganking probably not).
Eve Homeguard Anim
No promises, but we're looking at potential ways to include the previous Eve Homeguard animation (link below to a video) as a hidden easter egg somehow. It's not the right fit for her primary Homeguard anim, might be able to get it in in some way though.

Adjusting some skin portraits
A while back we added distinct portraits to the player's UI based off which skin they had selected. One common piece of feedback on those though was that many of them felt too zoomed in, which looked unnatural or just confusing. We've got a round of revisions to those coming as a result, with around half the portraits adjusted so they're noticeably more zoomed out."

When asked if we would see new items this preseason, Meddler commented:
"Quote:
should we expect new Items next week on preseason patch on the PBE?
We're not doing much in the way of item change for pre-season, most of our focus is on Runes."

On Evelynn, Meddler replied:
"Quote:
Hey Meddler, hope your day is going well. Two questions I had about Eve:
1.) Considering Eve’s struggling with closing the gap between her and her target, is there a reason the balance team prioritized damage buffs to her E instead of buffing her base movespeed or giving a small buff to her E and empowered E?
2.) Is Eve even an assassin? She honestly plays more like a slightly more bursty skirmisher. She’s not at all bursty in the same way tha Kha’zix or Rengar or Talon are as true assassins?
We think she's closer to an assassin than any other subclass, agree she's got some skirmisher aspects though certainly. We're cautious about giving her too much target access given her permanent camo post 6 and access to hard CC on a basic spell, both of which are not strengths other assassins (who do tend to have significantly better gap closing) have."

Meddler also talked a little more about AP Junglers:
"Quote:
AP Junglers? Interesting for both traditional and new comers. I'd like to see how that might go. I've heard of AP itemization work happening in the early season. I estimate by the time you guys get to the AP jungers, they'll overlap in tie frame. How might the two effect each other? Are there plans for having both in mind?
Pretty early days on both. Possible we ship item changes before kit adjustments or the other way around. Wanted to mention it now though in particular since we might throw some stuff on the PBE soonish and figured the context would be useful if so."

2017 All-Star Vote: How to choose your dream team

Voting for All-Stars is coming soon! Check out this article for full details:
"While the battle for the Summoner’s Cup continues in China, the 2017 All-Star Event is on the horizon. Mark your calendars because voting opens on November 6 and runs until November 10 at 11:59 PM PT
As previously announced, the following regions will participate at the 2017 All-Star Event in Los Angeles based on their performance at recent international events
  • China (LPL)
  • Europe (EU LCS)
  • Korea (LCK)
  • LMS (LMS)
  • North America (NA LCS)
  • Southeast Asia (GPL)
  • Turkey (TCL)
  • Brazil (CBLOL)
Players in participating regions can only vote for their region. As an update based on your feedback, players in regions that are not participating in ASE 2017 will be able to vote by selecting one of the regions to cast their ballot for. Votes within a region will be weighted at 80%, while votes outside the region will be weighted at 20%.
To lower the risk of player visa issues, Turkey (TCL) will complete their voting before other regions. GPL regions will also conduct their vote before other regions, to determine the teams being sent to the Garena All-Star Event.
Reminder that for pros to be eligible for All-Star, they must have played at least 20% of the most recent regional split (Summer Split or Split 2).
Remember you can only vote once, so make your picks wisely before casting your ballot!
Want to share your dream team ballot? Let us know in the comments below or via Twitter with #AllStar2017."
