3/7 PBE Update: Galio champion update, new Alistar, Kennen, Kog'Maw, and Renekton skins, new chroma, and more!

"Take the first swing!" The PBE has been updated! As we dive into a 7.6 PBE cycle, tonight's update includes the Galio champion update with updated gameplay & looks, new Moo Cow Alistar, Pug'Maw, Super Kennen, and Renektoy skins, four new sets of chroma, an updated base Lux voiceover, and more!

Galio Champion Update

Galio's large scope champion update is flying on to the PBE for testing! This update includes new visuals, significant ability changes, updated lore & voiceover, skin updates, and much more!

Galio, the Colossus


Stats & Abilities

Colossal Smash (Passive)
Every 8 seconds, Galio's next basic attack deals [10-160] (+100% total AD)(+40/50/60% MR) magic damage in an area. 
Colossal Smash's cooldown is reduced by 4 seconds when Galio's spells hit a champion.
  • Bonus Damage = 10/16/22/28/34/40/48/56/64/72/80/88/100/112/124/136/148/160 

Winds of War (Q)
70/75/80/85/90 Mana
10/9/8/7/6 sec Cooldown 
Galio fires two windblasts that deal 60/95/130/165/200 (+60% AP) magic damage. 
When the windblasts meet, they combine into a giant tornado that deals 30/45/60/75/90 (+40% AP) plus 9% of enemies' maximum Health (max 300 vs. monsters) as magic damage over 1.5 seconds.

Shield of Durand (W)
50 Mana
18/16.5/15/13.5/12 sec Cooldown 
Passive: After not taking damage for 12 seconds Galio gains a shield that absorbs 8/11/14/17/20/23% total HP] magic damage. 
First Cast: Galio starts to charge, gaining  [20/25/30/35/40% + ( 4% per 100 bonus Armor) (8% per 100 bonus MR )] but Damage Reduction but slowing himself by 30%. 
Second Cast: Galio taunts nearby enemy champions for 0.5 to 1.5 seconds and refreshes the Damage Reduction for 4 seconds. Taunt duration and radius increase with charge time. 
Shield of Durand's charge cannot be interrupted by crowd control.

Justice Punch (E)
30/35/40/45/50 Mana
14/13/12/11/10 sec Cooldown 
Galio lunges forward with a mighty blow, dealing 100/140/180/220/260 (+70% AP) magic damage to enemies and knocking them into the air for 0.75 seconds. Galio will stop upon hitting a champion or terrain.

Hero's Entrance (R)
[Range: 4000/4750/5500] 
100 Mana
160/140/120 sec Cooldown 
Galio designates an allied champion's current position as his landing spot and grants [20/30/40% + (4% per 100 bonus Armor) (8% per 100 bonus MR )] damage reduction to that ally until he lands.  
When Galio lands, enemies in the area take 150/250/350 (+70% AP) magic damage and are knocked into the air for 0.75 seconds (1.25 seconds in the center).

"Outside the gleaming city of Demacia, the stone colossus Galio keeps vigilant watch. Built as a bulwark against enemy mages, he often stands motionless for decades until the presence of powerful magic stirs him to life. Once activated, Galio makes the most of his time, savoring the thrill of a fight and the rare honor of defending his countrymen. But his triumphs are always bittersweet, for the magic he destroys is also his source of re-animation, and each victory leaves him dormant once again."

Updated Lux Base Voiceover

Lux's base voiceover was updated in today's patch! This updated VO includes  new lines mixed in with some of the older lines. Over on reddit, Meddler also noted this is the original VO actor who also did Lux's original and the Elementalist Lux voiceovers.


  • A curious new URGOT in-game model showed up in today's PBE files. Currently this is the only different asset, no textures or any other files were changed/added.  We know Urgot is in line for a champion update in the future. Presumably this model is a work in progress of some sort and made it's way to PBE by accident. [UPDATE] The skn/skl files were removed in the second update on 3/7.

Balance Changes

Remember *: The PBE is a testing grounds for new, tentative, and sometimes radical or experimental changes. Be aware that what you see below may be lacking context or other changes that didn't make it in or were implemented in an earlier patch this cycle! These are not official notes.

  • Feast (R):
    • Bonus health per stack of feast increased from 80/110/140 to 80/120/160
    • Total stacks able to be gained from minions/non-epic monsters increased from 5 to 6

  • Terrify (Q) range increased from 525 to 575
  • Dark Wind (E) additional damage to minions and monsters increased from 50% to 75%

  • Tormented Soil (W) [new effect] now applies Grievous Wounds if enemy champions are below 35% health

  • [Meddler noted Nidalee's traps (W) will noted prioritize big monsters over small monsters.]

Context and Notes

Below you'll find a red posts and context for several changes found in today's PBE - READ UP!

Meddler's quick gameplay thoughts for 3/7 -
"One of our focuses for the 7.6 development cycle is looking at champions who commonly jungle who are having too hard a time of it. We're expecting that'll mean we look at a range of champions and then make changes to a subset of that group. Currently being considered are Nunu, Fiddlesticks, Nidalee, Amumu, Jarvan and Volibear. You should see changes to some of those champs hit the PBE today, expect some others to follow and some to likely get reverted during the patch cycle as we test them. 
Changes we're more confident in are Nid traps prioritizing big monsters over small plus Fiddle getting bonus E damage against monsters and from memory CD/range tweaks to Q/W respectively. For J4 and Nunu we're looking at W scaling and consume respectively, though need more testing on those to speak with confidence about how promising those directions are/aren't. Nothing concrete yet on Amumu or Volibear."

2) Reav3 noted that both Enchanted Galio and Hextech Galio will have recolored vfx on the PBE in a future update:
"Random note: We will be adding recolored VFX to Enchanted and Hextech later during the PBE cycle FYI"

3) On reddit, Meddler noted the new Lux VO  uses same the original VO actor for Lux and Elementalist Lux:
"Correct, same voice actress for base Lux and Elementalist Lux. That also means we could just add new lines to Lux's existing VO (old ones are still in there too, though you'll hear them less often of course)."
Reav3 also commented:
"Players have been asking us to expand on the VO of our old champs that aren't in need of a VGU for quite some time actually. 
We are testing it out here. If people like it we may do more."

4) Exgeniar shared a set of upcoming Teleport changes that should be on the PBE soon.
"Hello Everyone, 
Ever had trouble finding that itty bitty ward that's somewhere in the middle of that crazy team fight? Ever got frustrated at clicking the mini-map trying to teleport into a fight?
Well, misclick no more! 
Change List:
  • Teleport will look for nearby valid teleport targets when you cast it...
  • To protect against fat fingering or accidental casts, this only applies if the target location is 2000+ units away
  • No longer buffers spells during teleport
