ARAM Queues: Good idea but takes time

Posted on at 6:12 PM by Moobeat
While we haven't heard much from Riot on the subject lately (even though they DID add an ARAM forum a little while ago ), Saergi, one of the European Event Coordinators, responded to a thread pleading for the addition of matchmaking queue to our beloved ARAM / Proving Grounds mode. In her response a few months ago, she reminded players that such a feature is a complicated and takes time to get right.

Today, however, she responded with "Wir haben euch gehört" which translates to "We have heard you". Could this mean things have finally started to swing into motion?

For reference, here is a fan translation ( from German to English ) of  what he had to say in his original post back in September:
"Okay, I once again asked in the matter of ARAM being a normal mode. You are not
the only ones who love this mode, it's also extremely popular internally ;) Adding
this mode onto normal matchmaking sounds like a really cool idea and is already
being discussed by our developers. But: If you add a new mode, we'll have to
consider a lot of things beforehand and that can't be done that quickly.
There needs to be a proper matchmaking when it comes to random champions.
If this mode is going to be made, then only under the condition that we can
assure you a proper gaming experience, we don't want any half-finished things "

  3. I went to this topic, and in the next post, he says (from german to english) "You have been heard." Which leads me to think that they might have found a way arround it and ARAM Matchmaking is coming soon

  9. i've been waiting for this aram queue for ages. i really hope it'd be worth the wait and not plagued with thousands of dodgers. I just wanna wreck face with op aram champs like lux, ziggs, nids, etc.. the free riot points really helped me with the perfect aram champ composition xD

  14. even though its aram, certain champions like nidalee, blitzcrank and lux, or champs with global ults, should have a less rate to be done, or be banned completely
it could be really unbalanced if one team only gets good, ranged, global ult champs with a ton of poke, and the other team gets only melee champs with only melee skills or something

  15. How about this for a solution. Each player gets 1 ban to restrict the champions that can be randomly selected for anyone. This way the "op" champs get banned as well as the champions nobody wants to play.

  16. What they should do is make it like draft pick, but instead of you picking your champion, the enemy team picks 5 champions, and your team has to decide which one they will take of the bunch. Instead of you banning champions the enemy team is going to play, you ban champions the enemy team is going to pick you to play. So for instance Karma would be a very popular ban in ARAM.

  18. Why, you think it's going to be draft?
If they do it, I marry Fizz.

  19. Problem, i won an 1750 elo 3v3 with taric, nami, leona.............
any champion can beat any champion, it's the players at the control.
I've done 1600 elo 5v5 with AP taric mid and won at 20 min's.
so certain champions woulda be a problem i don't think. since it's the player and not the game.
But i agree, some champion tend to do better then other in some instances. every champion has a weak spot and any champion can expose it when played in certain ways.
