Late August Patch Notes

The patch notes for the upcoming Late August patch are up and the update is scheduled for deployment later tonight!

Servers will be coming down around 1:00 PDT for NA servers, 2:00 AM UK Time for EUW, & 2:00 AM CEST for EUNE and the patch will be applied as quickly as possible. Estimated time for application is around six hours.
Noticeably there is NO mention of Syndra being added in at a later date, as is a common occurrence as of late. Meddler offered up a bit of an explanation on what's holding Syndra up:
"Since Syndra was revealed a bit earlier than usual in the process though she's had a few more polish points to be worked on than the usual champion that's been made public, hence the comparative quiet. At the moment she's going through a bunch of internal balance testing and bug fixing (hence the change to the passive on her W for example). "

  • The following items will now display a targeting indicator to show whether you are placing a ward inside of a bush: Wriggle's Lantern, Vision Ward, and Sight Ward
  • The following items will now display their cooldown on the item itself, rather than with a buff: Maw of Malmortius, Hexdrinker, Banshee's Veil, Guardian Angel, Sheen, Lichbane, Trinity Force, Tear of the Goddess, Archangel's Staff, and Manamune
  • Fixed: Wards no longer list that they have 20 Attack Damage
The newly updated Dark Valkyrie Diana splash art. She no longer wears a headdress / crown thing.
Furthermore, NeeksNaman posted a small response about the changes to the Dark Valkyrie Diana skin.
"We’ve made some slight changes to Dark Valkyrie Diana’s model and splash and wanted to provide some context behind the decision. When we create launch skins for Champions we always want them to amplify the fantasy of that champion for our players. Part of that is making sure that what is iconic to the Champion is kept intact when we design their skins. We felt Dark Valkyrie Diana was missing some of Diana’s key features: mainly her Lunari Symbol and facial features. We also noticed some similarities in silhouette to some of our previous champions and wanted to make sure we differentiated her. Some of this feedback came internally at Riot but also from the community post launch and we wanted to make sure she was hitting the quality bar you guys deserve."

    11. I loved the old version. The new one looks awful and as I said already skins don't have to be lorebound (that's a quote from Ironstylus). You could see who she was with the helmet. The mark looks especially bad on her as it's bright white on a char which is entirely dark/purple colored. I see no gain in that change.

      Also inb4 you want to discuss with me grow some balls and don't use anon or are you secretly ashamed to say you like that one better.

    2. We wont, because the reason the pro players picked those champions were that they have both high damage outputs and escapes. No number buffing is going to change that without making them unfun to play.

    3. ^ Exactly as you said, they'd have to entirely gut those three's base stats and kits for them to fall out of viability. This is the result of nerfing non-kill lane supports who were better at mass disruption vs. individual peeling.

      RIOT slowly chipped away at Janna, Sona, and Soraka, and made them situational picks instead of standard ones. Which opened the gateway to more aggressive supports, which combined with aggressive laners, makes it much harder for passive ADCs with no escapes to lane safely.

    1. I think she did a little, but I agree that the skin change made sense with regards to her as a character. The Lunari symbol is a defining part of her and the splash itself didnt really look like the default as much.

    2. The point of skins is to make the character different, that would be the reason people buy them. I don't think you prefer some characters to just have different colored skins.

      The reason for the change is obvious and the skin looks like a simple recolor.

    4. Ya because the normal skin totally has feathers and hip armor, and Dark val is totally got coat tails going on. Ya totally a recoloring! -_- god damn it people texture/model/art work isn't easy, and ya the old skin isn't rocking her Lunari brand which is kinda a big deal for Diana. I miss the helmet too but please don't insult peoples hard work just because YOU don't like something, the change in the skin isn't a personal attack on YOU.

    7. if you look at jayce, draven, varus, and zyra bundled skins i really dont see how they "amplified the fantasy" of those champions. how do a space suit, a ghost form, some yellow crystals, and fire amplify the fantasy in a way that a helmet was ruining diana's? and how are feathers enhancing her fantasy? i dont really care either way. i like the new art just fine. i just feel like maybe the fact that it looked so close to syndra makes more sense

    Just get your damn money back and stop crying, they made her face in the artwork more demonic because diana wasn't originally intended to be sex on legs, she was supposed to be a female champ who for once isn't displayed in that fashion (like leona). Obviously her release skin completely says the opposite to some extent but whatever.

    Also, free refunds? I've never really paid for a refund personally but don't worry i'm sure they won't charge you for a refund.

    P.S. check the "purchased" tab when servers come back live.

  19. Finaly they increced the size of Morderkaisers model.About time!
    Nautilus was bigger than him and in his lore he is described to be 8 feet tall.
    Now if they change hi cape alittle bit.That would be awsome.To make it like he's chinese splash art.
    Other than that he is perfect!

    1. Im not sure what sona syndrome is but any one with an aoe knockup+stun and a repostioning knockback+stun will be played till the end of time. Hes also tanky as hell bewteen massive base stats and of course dat ultimate.

    1. I would hardly call that a nerf, it's more of a balance thing, her jungling still works great, mid-lane/top same.

      We all like the OP champions but sometimes we need to get our feet on the ground.

      In my opinion, both Zyra and Diana are balanced, I love them both and even after the so called nerfs to them, I still own my lane hard.

  34. kat nerfs.................. great. 0.25 ap ratio.. as if 0.3 wasn't low enough ...... bouncing blades total 0.6 ap ratio..... compared to before 0.8 ad ratio and a 0.35 ap ratio. I only approve of the shunpo damage increase and her passive increase. These nerfs are unnecessary

  35. Am I the only one dissapointed in the Shen nerf? A lot of his helpfulness in teamfights and supporting in lane revolves around drawing enemy attacks onto himself. Now he can't get off a second taunt most of the time, unless it's late enough in the game that he's started maxing it. Granted, the cooldown reduction between levels 1-5 before was kinda dumb, but it still would be nice to stick a small buff on another ability(such as his passive) to balance it out.
