COVID-19 Charity Fundraiser Content Now Available

COVID-19 Charity Fundraiser Announcement

Check out this dev video from New001 on the COVID-19 charity fundraiser, including tons of content for sale with proceeds going to frontline healthcare workers:

"Support worldwide COVID-19 relief efforts with special skins, chromas, emotes, bundles, and more. All of the proceeds from specific in-game store items will go straight to helping healthcare workers on the front lines and those negatively affected by the pandemic around the world. Event runs from June 25, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. PT to July 23 at 1:00 p.m. PT.

New bundles, icons, an emote, and chromas are now available in the store and in bundles!

Here's a detailed article on which content purchases will be going to charity. It also notes the fundraiser ends  on July 23rd!

"Last month, players from all corners of the world rallied together to raise over $630,000 for COVID-19 relief during the 48-hour Mid-Season Streamathon. Riot Games has also donated an additional $4.5 million to global pandemic relief to date. 

But we know there’s still more to do, which is why we’re holding a charity fundraiser in League for the next four weeks. During this time, we’ll be donating 100% of proceeds from Nurse Akali, Kennen M.D., and Surgeon Shen—and other related items—to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund at ImpactAssets, our charitable financial partner. 

The complete list of items we’ll be donating 100% of the proceeds from include:

• Surgeon Shen skin
• Surgeon Shen chromas
• Surgeon Shen border and icon set
• Nurse Akali skin
• Nurse Akali chromas
• Nurse Akali border and icon set
• Kennen M.D. skin
• Kennen M.D. chromas
• Kennen M.D. border and icon set
• From Akali with Love! emote
• Megadonor bundle (includes all of the above plus an exclusive Megadonor icon) 

This fundraiser event will run from June 25, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. PT to July 23, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. PT. After this time, the chromas, emotes, and bundles will be removed from the store. The chromas may eventually return in the Gemstone shop, but they won’t be available for direct purchase after the fundraiser has ended. The skins will remain available. 

All fundraiser items will be marked with a “Social Impact” Badge in the store.

The Social Impact Fund is a nonprofit philanthropic fund, which is a separate entity from Riot Games the game developer and publisher. This fund allows us to distribute money to local nonprofits in communities around the world. 

Your donations will directly support pandemic relief by giving doctors, nurses, and other frontline workers the resources they need to act quickly and protect those most vulnerable. Money raised will also provide critical financial aid to families and individuals who’ve been negatively impacted by the virus. 

This is just one small way we can help make a difference together. We hope you can join us in having a positive impact on all our communities.

Nurse Akali, Kennen M. D., and Surgeon Shen have some VFX changes to go along with the introduction of the COVID-19 fundraiser:

Each skin also has a set of chroma now available to purchase for 290 RP each or bundled!

Summoner Icons

New summoner icons are also available through bundle purchases!

Emote

A new emote is available for 350 RP or included in the Megadonor bundle:

Special Borders

New special borders are now available by purchasing border bundles for Nurse Akali, Kennen M. D., and Surgeon Shen: . 

Bundles

Each of the three skins are available in Border set bundles that include the champion, skin, unique icon, and a border. If you own both the champion and the skin, each bundle shrinks down to 850 RP.
