Gifting Center extended until Jan 6th

Posted on at 9:05 AM by Moobeat
Good news everyone! The new gifting feature has been extended until the end Jan 6th, the end of this year's Snowdown Showdown.

Here is Hippalus with the details:
"Due to popular demand, we have extended the availability of the gifting feature in the Store through the end of Snowdown Showdown on January 6. Only summoners that were on your Friend list at the start of the Snowdown event can be gifted. Snowdown summoner icons will continue to be rewarded for your first gift of RP, a champion, or a skin.

We hope to bring gifting back permanently in 2013 once we have evaluated its impact on account fraud and hacking, and taken any necessary additional steps to protect your accounts."

  4. I don't see why they don't always have gifting as an option. You don't have to keep it Christmas themed the whole year, but I'd still like the option to buy things for friends whenever I'd like :<

I loved this gifting system, lots of people unable to get RP were able to get at least a skin or two.

  6. The problem is that, if they were to keep it, then hacking accounts would actually pay off for the hackers if they found an account with RP on it. Until now, all they could do was use your RP stupidly, reduce your elo and troll, so nothing worth getting found out for.

Hacking is also the reason they had regulations on the gifting system, for example that the friend needed to be in your friend list for a longer time.

  8. Clever bastards. I have spent far more money on RP to give to friends than I ever would have bought normally.

  9. I bet they are "extending" this and after that time is up it will become a permanent feature on the shop... it only makes sense people love buying gifts for people all year long, think about how much more money they will make on birthdays

  10. The only "hacks" are people giving out their passwords and downloading "free rp" programs from youtube.

  13. They should do this every other month or something. Making it permanent will probably lower the demand for RP, althought birthdays and special events will still get those purchases. The problem is there is no rush to get RP and buy stuff. With it being a snowdown showdown thing, the need for it was much higher, and created a demand. It also cant hurt them though in the long run, now i can just ask my rich friend for stuff ALL the time.
Also Moobeat, when does the legacy skin sale end? i really want nightmare chogath, but im also waiting for a good sale with things I don't already own. So the longer i wait, the better.

  15. I don't understand why they don't make gifting a permanent feature. I have recieved gifts from most of my friends and have given gifts in return. It's awesome. I love gifting games on Steam so why not on League of Legends? It makes Riot money and makes League of Legends more personable.

  18. "Due to popular demand" as in "Sorry the gifting system was non-working 75% of the time it's been enabled" so "we have extended the availability". I see what he did there
