Syndra is now available for PBE testing!

At long last, Syndra is available for PBE testing! The good news is there is no patch to download as Riot just flipped the switch to enable her for purchase & play.
Continue reading to see classy images detailing her ratios, spell effects, and cast ranges, as well as preview of Justicar Syndra

Let's take a closer look at her kit, Ratios, and ranges:

 ( Passive ) Transcendent

 ( Q ) Dark Sphere
Dark Sphere has a base damage of 60/100/140/180/220 ( +.5 AP ), a base mana cost of 50/60/70/80/90, and a base cool down time of 4/4/4/4/4.
Summon ball, ball idle, ball about to expire.
Range
Red particles are added when the passive is triggered.
 ( W ) Force of Will
Force of will has a base damage of 80/120/160/200/240 ( +.7 AP ), a base mana cost of 60/70/80/90/100, and a base cool down time of 12/11/10/9/8. Additionally the slow scales to 25%/30%/35%/40%/45% with each rank.
Grab ball, throw ball, land ball.
Range
Once her passive is triggered the spell receives some new, distinguishable particles.
Additionally, you can grab and throw blue golem and red lizard!
Throwing red buff applies the debuff as well!

 ( E ) Scatter the Weak
Scatter the Weak has a base damage of 70/115/160/205/250 ( +.4 AP ), a base mana cost of 50/50/50/50/50, and a base cool down time of 18/17/16/15/14.
Animation
Range
Knocking ball back.
Once her Passive is triggered it becomes wider and has a new particle effect.

( R ) Unleashed Power
Unleashed Power has a base damage of 90/135/180 ( +.15 AP ) per orb, a base mana cost of 100/100/100, and a base cool down time of 100/90/80. Additionally,  You always shoot at least 3 orbs but if you have multiple orbs on the map it will fire all of them. The maximum amount of orbs seems to be the three default orbs and three extra orbs on field, totaling six orbs and being an effective .9 ratio.
Animation with the minimum three orbs. Just fyi, each orb is a separate source of damage. For example, if you have a Banshee's Veil, it will only block one of the 3 to 6 orbs you can fire.
Range
While Justicar Syndra is not available for testing and her splash art is still missing, it is possible to see what she looks by doing a model swap.  The skin features light themed abilities and orbs opposite of Syndra's traditional dark/purple palette.
Check out this lighter version of Syndra, in action, compliments of SkinSpotlights:

but would it be possible to try her grab on all the "grabables" and list their possible effects?

    2. Same anon. I meant, red lizard buff = slow when thrown, etc. The effects that Riot and everyone else was raving about for Syndra to troll in the jungle, etc.

    3. If she has vision, she could steal any buff from the outside, just like Blitz and then throw it where she wants it.

    4. We aren't seeing eye to eye Glamaphonic... -.-

I'll just wait to see if anyone will list it in the future. Thanks anyway.

    5. I tested her and you can grab blue/red to your base :D

    6. Red Buff is the ONLY special one. Everything else is just the standard damage and slow.

      Delete
    7. Not entirely true. Throwing Blue Buff gives you 10 mana, and Malz's voidlings turn into time bombs (however that may be a bug).

    2. Leona does have a Valkyrie skin also if I recall correctly. So since Leona is light and justicar is all bright then he's referring to what they did to Valkyrie Diana and removing the head part since syndra looked to familiar with it.

  16. Just played her. Not OP (from my testing). She will need a LOT of skill to harness.

But overall she felt....boring. Most of the champs Riot releases nowadays do. They just don't feel as fun. I bought Lux in August of 2011 and still have more fun with her after 300+games than I've ever had with Ziggs or Ahri.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I know right? Hell, even Xerath seems more fun than these new champs

      Delete
    2. Glad someone agrees. I'm sorry to Riot, but they're so busy thinking of "cool new mechanics" and original ideas, that it seems like they're too skill-based without any fun included. Orianna is a difficult character, but she feels hella fun to play.

Fun is subjective so its hard to make something that universally fun, but anything is better than this. Honestly I find Sejuani one of the more fun new champions in the past 6-7 months or so, and her problem is Riot released her weaker than she should've been and they haven't fixed her as of yet.

      Delete
    3. I see where you guys are coming from but I think it's a more subjective thing. For me I love a lot of the new champions. Ziggs is one of my favorite heroes from any MOBA, and I played a lot of the weird SC and War3 ones. I like that they are making champions that have a bit more going on mechanically. Stuff like Zyra seeds or Syndra orbs are fun to set up and use in different ways. Smacking someone with Syndra's ult then using E and shooting all those orbs into the rest of their team is awesome.

      Delete
    4. Hence why I said at the start of my second paragraph "Fun is subjective". :)

I never said anything is wrong with them being more mechanically involved in comparison to the older, and 'simpler' champs. I just find the new champions have a boring feel to them. To each his own.

I also did just try her R+E into a team thing. It was indeed semi rewarding, and I imagine in a "real" game (when someone has learnt her decently well), it can be a definite fight changer. But she's not for me, that's as much as I can say.

  19. She has incredible teamfight presence, good lord. Despite this, her kit seems far more oriented to dueling, just based on her ultimate.

Also. Minimal setup required, but Q+Q+Q, Ult something, anything, then hit E for stuns on everyone in front of you. SPHERES, SPHERES EVERYWHERE

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yeah I was messing with her ult and was going "this is preeeeeetty good, but not amazing" and then I used E AFTER her ult and hit hit all the spheres her ult leaves and my mind was blown. The ult actually sets you up for a huge AoE stun using her E afterwards. That's awesome gameplay!

      Delete
    2. how is Q + Q + Q minimal setup? thats 7.2-12 seconds. depending on CDR.

      Delete
    3. Q has 1.8 sec CD on rank 5 and 40% CDR, given that it has 3 sec base cooldown.

      Delete
  20. has a very small range for ult :/

    ReplyDelete
  21. She's fun to play!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. ult seems too weak if you dont have spheres on the field, the extra spheres should feel like a bonus not a requiremnt...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Extra spheres are not a requirement.

Unlike many of the champions ingame, Syndra relies on comboing. In case of other single-target ultimates like Darius', Garen's or Veigar's, you use them to secure a one kill, to Decimate (huehue) even.

In Syndra's case, it's all about positioning, spawning spheres, grabbing them, repositioning, throwing back, this is not an ordinary mage. Played her on custom for the first time, owned bots (of course), but, boy, she is one hell of a skillful champion. Her possibilities are HUGE, you can setup pretty much every fight as you wish... You do have enormous control over battlefield and if you screw something up, it hurts. Bad knockback, bad throw, missed slow, these things are crucial to execute properly.

So is her ultimate, it's not about enormous single-target burst damage, but the real deal is using the spheres which are left after using it... throw another one and unleash that 7-sphere-hell upon your enemies! 7 spheres seem to be possible, using ultimate kind of adds a few seconds to the spheres longevity, so if you have 40% CDR, set 3 spheres, use your ult, you have now 6 on the ground, throw in one more and E... Boom.

She is not strong damage-wise, she just has amazing control and utility, currently in love with her kit :D

      Delete
    2. How do the spheres position themselves once the ult ends? If they ring around the enemy i could see it being pretty good but outside of laneing haveing 10-12 seconds to set up 3 extra spheres is just NOT realistic, buffing the base value but in exchange lowering the per sphere bonus seems like a very logical change. Many mages combo their spells this is nothing new and not a valid excuse to leave what i veiw as a potentual flaw in her design.

I understand her kit is complex and that your head over heels but if suggestions like this arnt made nothing would change.

      Delete
    3. Your suggestions are even more than welcome, buddy! Any feedback is important.

The thing is, she seems to be more like a fight setter-up than actual hard-hitting carry. While she WILL of course mid in current meta, she will fall behind when we compare her to, say, Annie or Brand. At least IMHO.

And the spheres seem to be positioned randomly, so it's definitely something which bothers me. Also, on 40% CDR you have 1,8 sec cd on rank 5 Q, so 10-12 seconds you mentioned are a tad too much :P 3 is effective max, because you will still need to execute everything perfectly in order to have 6-sphere-ultimate given that the sphere lasts for 6 seconds only and you need to make it in time before the 1st one disappears.

I'm not head over heels, I just like how tricky and interesting she is :D most champions have pretty straight-forward gameplay, in Syndra's case it's pretty much up to you, you can play her as an dedicated hard-hitting AP carry, you can build less aggressively and still own teamfights, heck, you can probably even support with her! Which is extreme, but... You never know:D

      Delete
  23. I like the visual aspect very much but believe she might be a on the weak side...

    ReplyDelete
  24. At least her passive seems weak and sooo boring.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Boring? A tad.
      Weak? Hell no.

While Q change is insignificant, you get wider range on E and better slow... What else do you need? Positioning capabilities just got even better!

      Delete
    2. I'd like the knockup she oryginally was getting and maybe instead of 15% bonus they could make it 5% but in true damage. Just something to make the passive more distinctive.

(I realize knockup was removed because her CC got too strong but I believe some other modification could have been made)

      Delete
    3. I do agree, knockup was, as you say, removed because of obvious reasons, we do not need another Alistar :D

True damage is definitely a good idea, a good mechanic overall, causes actual diversity in itemization and makes game more interesting, so props for this idea.

      Delete
    4. (double "idea", sorry, will need to revise my responses in the future:D)

      Delete
    5. Her passive is very neat because it allows you to change your game style. You can chose to slow enemies better or knock them back further depending on how the match is going on.

The extra damage on Q sounds nice but i have my doubts about how efficient that extra-damage is.

      Delete
    6. It is fine, but not game-changing. What is more, spheres' potential not really lies in damage. :P additionally, it has no effect on farm capabilities, so... but the slow and wider range are amazing!

      Delete
    7. from a .5 to a .575 AP ratio when the passive works, yawn. W and E are interesting but that Q bonus is just uninteresting and they nerfed it since last update was .6 realy just too high they had to bring it down to .575???

      Delete
    8. Zyra received similar nerfs, so does Graves and several other champions lately. Result? Graves wasn't as popular in past week as he used to be. Small changes make you more on par in comparison to other champions fulfilling the same role. In case of RADs, Graves, Corki and Ezreal needed nerfs, to bring them in line with other champions. Changes were small, but successful.

.6 AP and .575 is indeed insignificant and kind of hilarious, but... There is certain reasoning behind it.

      Delete
    9. now that im looking it over i think the change has less to do with the scaling and more to do with the base damage 5% extra of 240-260, is pretty noticable when your both level 9-12. Maybe her "suprise im level 9 and my passive kicked" in burst was problematic in internal testing.

      Delete
  25. She needs a lot of practice to learn her abilities and potential well. She is mainly based on compos to achieve a lot of damage.

A good one is to release 2-3 of your Q spheres, R and then E to push ALL spheres. Just one of the combos.

    1. Sincerely, Syndra looks a tad weak besides Zyra and Diana. Both of them were kinda powerful at launch but Syndra looks a little more on the planning and strategy making side making her very useful team-wise. Both of the "OP" heroes mentioned before were nerfed and guess what? Diana is banned in like 40-50% of Ranked Games and Zyra is a strong pick for mid.

The only thing they may nerf/change is her W utility (grabbing and such). The rest of the kit looks very balanced.

      Delete
    2. Both Zyra and Diana are extremely powerful in 1v1 situations (Zyra not intentionally, which is fixed now AFAIK), have extreme burst, especially Diana. Syndra surely falls behind when it comes to raw duel damage, of course! But imagine proper teamfight, or just multiple champion fight scenario, Syndra shines in such situations.

      Delete
    3. Actually, Zyra and Syndra are very similar when it comes to the role in the meta. Both pack massive utility and CC, in case of both positioning is all that matters. The problem is, Zyra was too powerful when she was released, which made people consider her as a burst mage, rather than support AP controller. I think Riot is aware of that mistake and Syndra is looked at very carefully to avoid repeating such. Fingers crossed, both Zyra and Syndra are really nice additions to AP arsenal, kinda tired of AD RPM clickers and AP nukers.

      Delete
    4. look i know noobs will cry over just about anything is OP but there is such a thing as legitimately overpower champions.

dianna and zyra were more than just the scrubs complaining about the latest problem, the top players in the world were in on the fun too, picking and banning them every single game in online tourneys. The only reason dianna hasnt seen excessive play in major LAN event tourneys is dianna had been banned from use by the rules.

      Delete
    5. Which still does not apply to Syndra. Diana's Crescent Strike raped every mid in last three weeks. It HAD to be nerfed. Too low cd, cost, debuff and HELL OF A DMG. So it had to happen. On the other hand, Syndra is not imbalanced, as far as I'm concerned now. She can't melt your face in one second. Even if fed (played her with full MPen and over 700 AP) she's nowhere close to Brand's or Annie's burst... The only thing which COULD be considered as OP is her control capabilities, which are indeed very high. Future will tell, aoe damage+stun from 5 orbs sounds a little bit nasty, but still you need to remember it's very hard to achieve and position properly. Bear in mind Lee Sin's ult, devastating by design, very hard to actually execute to its fullest and still the least scary of all his kit.

      Delete
  29. One of the worst Ults in the game, in the current meta you will NEVER be able to spawn enough Orbs to make it more than just tickle the enemy...who will just stand long enough there and watch you place them?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. So the 5 man guaranteed stun afterwards is shitty?
You dont need to get any orbs out for the ult to do its real job, the damage is just a nice bonus.

      Delete
    2. This, ult essentially gives you 3 spheres on demand. AND the damage. On a really short cooldown.

Still sounds bad? Don't think so.

      Delete
  30. I try her on support, those 45% slow and good harass make her very similar to zilean.

Also she can stun couple of enemies at once :D
