Patch Tonight will not include Varus.

Here we have some news on the upcoming Varus patch. It seems Riot is going to deploy the patch, including balance changes and the long awaited Spectator Mode, shortly but Varus will not be available for play until sometime next week. Be sure to keep an eye on this thread for details as the  pending patch is deployed.
Summoners!

The highly anticipated Spectator Mode arrives with this week’s patch, giving you an exciting new way to watch League of Legends matches. The new Mode allows you to focus on individual champions or move around the field as you wish, as well as comparing the stats and progress of each team through heads-up displays. You’ll be able to read player chat as it happens, keep track of player pings, and even shoutcast for your friends!

On April 30, 2012, starting at 11:30PM Pacific Time, ranked queues will be disabled in preparation for the patch. At 1:00AM Pacific Time, the servers will be shut down and Spectator Mode will begin its upload. At this time all games currently in progress will end in a draw and stats will not be recorded. We estimate that the Fields of Justice will be unavailable for approximately 6 hours.

Immediately following the completion of this update, all game balance changes, and access to Spectator mode will be available. Varus, the Arrow of Retribution, will be making his way to the League at a later date which should give you a chance to fiddle with Spectator mode. He definitely wants to be the spotlight, so tidy up your spectating skills for when Varus makes his way to the fields; stay tuned for more information!

Edit: Here is Tamat's response on the situation and declaration that Riot is aiming for a release date of next week for Varus.
Hey all,

Just wanted to point a few important things out. First and foremost, have you read the patch notes yet? This is a MASSIVE update to League of Legends, and one that has had everyone at Riot Games busting their ass. We're pretty excited, and we hope that you are as well.

Not enough? Alright. We're putting the finishing touches on Varus, the Arrow of Retribution and we're currently planning to release him next week outside of our normal update schedule

    1. Two weeks per new champion is a very fast rate, while I love new content ( and new skins ), I'm not at all put off by these recent delays. I'd rather have them complete and polished then have a constant flow.
